1 Attachment(s)
Do any of you know what the average price is for the ILBE Gen 2 Main Pack with the Assault pack.

If any of you have these packs could help me out, I have been wanting one of these for awhile, I am looking for a good website to buy it from, also if you have these packs how do you like them.

These are the packs I am talking about.

Those are really nice. Used to have one, I think I sold it for $350 on ebay but that was a few years back when they were just out.

Are you talking about the MOLLE II Assault pack, I have 2 of those.

Check your local Craigslist. Living next to a military installation, theres no shortage of soldiers/airmen getting rid of their TA50.

I just bought those two packs off ebay for $80 plus $20 for shipping, supposedly in excellent used condition. I haven't received them yet.

As posted above, there are plenty of them on eBay. Some fairly inexpensive. I compared the Ilbe with the Spear UM21 and opted for the later. it was more expensive but a quality purchase.

Good luck.

I bought my complete main pack from a local guy selling a bunch on ebay for $80 locally picked up. Incomplete main packs can cost you more by trying to piece it together than just buying it complete.

Having carried one on my back for many years.... They suck. Camelback makes a nice pack. Blackhawk and 5.11 are a few other good ones. I would not invest in those $350+ Mystery Ranch packs.

Just received it. Everything is good on it except the load lifters, which are tearing loose. The small assault pack is pretty nice.

I paid $125 for mine & its used but in brand new condition. Its incredibly spacious & comfy. I highly recommend it.

I've had the displeasure of carrying them on many forced marches. The waist straps are pretty comfy and secure, and they carry a lot of crap but I would NOT get one for personal use. They are something like Six friggin pounds unloaded. For comparison, a 3 pound pack is considered "heavy" for most civilian packs.

The main ILBE pack is designed to carry up to 120 pounds and fit a mortar tube. Way way overbuilt for civilian needs, even SHTF scenario. If you're carrying insane loads in your BoB like that, you're not going to get very far on foot. 4 days load on the Appalachian Trail are usually 30 pounds, maybe 40 in cold weather.

I got one on trade and got rid of it for some archery gear. Having backpacked for many years, they can't compare to good civilian gear, and like any pack, you should try it with a load before you buy. A pack is like shoes, it should fit. PAX

I have one issued to me right now and I love it. Carries A LOT! There is a great review of it on youtube by some outdoor's guy. Watch that and you'll get a nice idea. But overall a great pack. Make sure you get the top cover with it btw

Panda48264 01-25-2013 10:46 PM

The Marine Corps should be in the middle of phasing those out for new CIF gear, so I would expect to see a lot of the issue gear from the last 8 years start to appear on the used market.
***updated*** Doughboys Surplus in Bellfower had 3 of them and additional assault packs. Forgot to ask how much they were selling the whole system for.
