ZOMBIE SHOOT - OCT 31st

http://static.squarespace.com/static...pg?format=750w

http://www.fastoc.com/zombies

This shoot is presented in conjunction with The Zombie Shooters Association and follows their creed by being geared towards both the new and experienced shooter.

For the new shooter it's gateway to safe, competitive, firearms fun. For the seasoned shooters there are many challenges to improve their game. We have been working hard to make sure this is a fun and atmospheric event.

The venue has two ranges, one will be used for the competition itself and the other one open for warm up and practice.

The Place: Evans Gun Smithing Shooters World - 1637 N. Brian St. Orange, California 92867.

The Time: Gathering at 5:30 pm for safety and competition brief. Lead starts flying at 6pm sharp.

Contact for questions: Please Use This Link Here feel free to give a number if you would like us to call you.

Ammo needed: Please check back. Currently we are looking for 47 rounds for a perfect score, but that may increase when we do our dry run next week. Also as the other range will be available to warm up extra ammo would be a good idea. Ammo will be available to purchase at the range store.

The date/time pretty much excludes anyone with kids unless they don't participate in Halloween. Bummer. Would have liked to attend otherwise.

Sounds interesting. So is the competition similar to IDPA but with zombies?

FAST OC 10-14-2013 8:10 AM

Somewhat similar, only the IDPA doesn't have a foggy range with glowing targets :D

sounds very interesting..

We're hoping it is. We'll be doing a dry run this week to make sure that all the special effects work properly giving us time to work out any bugs. I'll make sure to post pictures!

We are going to post pics up Thursday night or Friday morning of what the range is going to look like, hopefully a little video as well. We are having our dry run in a few days and everyone will have a chance to catch a glimpse.

Rifles? As much as we'd love to break out the rifles and shotguns, it's not going to be doable at this event. BUT!!! We are planning an event that will incorporate rifles into the mix. It'll be challenging, you may have wished you didn't ask for that! :D

47 rounds - so 5 full magazines? Should we bring holster / magazine pouches? =)

John Z, the guy behind the Zombie Shooters Association put his idea together for people to use as either an introduction to competitive shooting or as a fun event for anyone that wants to play. The rule book is a sheet of paper rather than a manual so it's easy to pick up. It's all about having fun and being safe at the same time.

Essentially, the difference in a zombie competition is in how it's scored and how the targets are engaged.

For zombies it is a headshot, for infected three in the body. The final score for each stage is in time taken, with penalties for not finishing a target or for hitting an innocent.

Also... atmosphere. We are playing with that a lot.

There will be movement, reloading, changes in shooting pace and some bonus precision targets.

I will try and get some video/pictures from our dry run of the set up(s) in the next couple of days.

Yes and yes. Stages planned are going from ready position and starting unloaded from the table, we may be able to do holster work (Not everyone will already be wearing a holster in the zombie apocalypse!).

Don't count on that round count just yet, the final count may rise when we do our dry run in a couple of days time depending how many stages we can fit into the allotted time. Two magazines should be sufficient for each stage.

We should know the exact number for a perfect score and time on Friday and drop it on the website.

We ended up not shooting pics or video until very late… the camera didn't come out until we were working on stage 3.

The only thing you can really tell is the targets we are using… the camera doesn't show how eerie it is with the smoke. Also, the lasers are being dropped, because they really destroyed the atmosphere.

The picture and videos give a really good idea of the targets though…

This is going to be a blast.
