i think it took me 3.5 hours.

i didnt have a vice grip, no thin plier, and a weak power drill

the most frustrating part was the drilling because it was barely shaving off the metal and reisntalling the bolt hold open spring

i think it would probably take me 1.5 - 2 hours if i had the proper tools

im getting a Saiga 7.62 in a few months, so i plan to be prepared this time.

yep. just gut out the internals and dremel away. i have a M249 shell and a UMP shell that im gutting out.

most common .22LR conversions are the P90, AUG, TAR, G36. its crazy

SDRider858 10-18-2011 1:56 PM

Sweet Saiga 12!

I was actually just looking at your Maurader kit over on rimfirecentral. I just picked up my 10/22 and ordered up that same kit.

defcon 10-18-2011 2:01 PM

thanks.
i was debating whether i should finish up the S12 by buying the conversion kit for the S12 or buy the 10/22. im happy that i actually finished it.

SDRider858 10-18-2011 3:19 PM

You made a good choice. The Saiga 12 is one of my favorite shotguns, and its high on my list of next purchases.

i shot it for the first time at Firing Line in Northridge and it drew a crowd. Even the range master was suprised about how i got a saiga 12. he totally thought it was illegal until i showed him the bullet button.

defcon 11-22-2011 10:00 PM

i cant wait to go to angeles and shoot this thing outdoors

Nicoman 11-23-2011 1:49 PM

Did you pin your stock? I wanna put a UBR on my saiga 12 and wondering if I have to pin it

defcon 11-23-2011 4:48 PM

Yes. You can see a silver tapping screw under the moe stock

dc2integra 12-27-2011 8:28 PM

Very nice saiga.

i didnt know the proper way to install it when i got it. its fixed now. ;)

hefedehefe 01-26-2012 12:17 PM

Sweet. I'm going to try to convert mine. I think I have the same rotary tool you got there. I am trying to add the recoil buffer, but cant figure out how to take off the second spring????Know how?

defcon 01-26-2012 12:33 PM

which 2nd spring?

go to http://forum.saiga-12.com/

hefedehefe 01-26-2012 12:44 PM

went there and couldnt find anything. there are two springs on the rod with a plate/spacer on the s12

defcon 01-26-2012 2:22 PM

the spacer i think youre referring to is the open bolt holder. theres a axis retaining spring that controls that. is that the one youre talking about?

theres also another spring that goes on the left side of the receiver which is called the shepherds crook. this is used to keep the retaining pins in place from falling out.

hefedehefe 01-26-2012 2:24 PM

I dont think so. I will post pics when I get home

kernoonus 01-26-2012 4:17 PM

From what I can tell, you have to knock out the small retaining pin that keeps the recoil spring guide in place. Do you have the simple blue plastic-ish buffer? The one I have just sits in place. There's a hole in the middle I put the plunger and spring guide through. I don't have to disassemble any of the recoil assembly.

I got one of these things, so it looks like I'm going to have to modify the buffer or pop out that pin
