Range for holster work?
Every range I've visited is very strict, for good reasons, but I'm looking for a place where I can work from my iwb holster.
Any suggestions? |
Your back yard, your living room, your kitchen table, from the drivers seat in your car-in your garage. You don't need a range.

Thanks, I do dry fire practice and practice empty holster work but also want to do it live.

Sac Valley would be the best place.

Thank you

The Gun Range allows it.

Sac Valley will allow holster work only on the competitive ranges (not the public range where anyone can go). And only if you have been through their Action Pistol safety orientation and reserved a range or are with a group. Only members or instructors or shooting clubs can reserve a range.
This is as of today, the rules may change soon. |
You can get your APO card by attending SDPS intro clinic at SVSC. If you do join SVSC (NRA membership required), its pretty easy to reserve action pistol bays during the week, but there needs to be 2 of you in the bay (safety issue).

go to the gun range in north highlands on a slower day and they tend to let you do holster work if its not super busy.
|
Start doing IDPA matchs.
|
PS. Sac Valley has stopped accepting new members at this time. More info may follow, after the Board meeting May 21. But if you don't have a membership as of April 23, it may be a long wait.
Why be a member? So you can reserve a private range instead of shooting on the public range. Or shoot at all on Wednesdays and Thursdays (members only days). |

Spenceville, behind camp far west. Just make sure you are there early, like 6am. You'll probably have it all to yourself till 7am but then the circus starts. When people show up, it's time to leave. I was there at 6am last Saturday and had it to myself till just after 7. Weekdays are better.
