Whats the Best Charging Handle out there ? ? ? ?

I'm a lefty and I'm working on 2 builds. I was looking for what works best. I know gunfighter is good.

I was looking at the Rainier Arms model. Anyone use it or have seen it in person? What do you think? How well made is it and how will it hold up over time?

One more thing what do you guys think of the Seekins/Spikes Bar rail????

I just put the Rainier Arms Raptor on a rifle I'm building for a buddy (lefty). Have not shot it yet but looks very durable and built very well. Also used a Seekins BAR 13" on another rifle very nice light weight and durable. Its really nice if you want to use a fake can or KX3 on a pistol or SBR it fits nicely inside plenty of clearance.

absolutely love the seekins/spikes BAR rails.

tuna quesadilla 01-15-2013 3:22 PM

I believe Bravo Co JUST released their ambi Gunfighter handle which has been in development since early this year.

For the record, as a lefty AR shooter, I've never had a problem just reaching overhand with my right hand and manipulating the charging handle with the "claw" method (one finger on each side). I never adopted the knife-hand technique. Seems to work plenty fast for me.

2fast4u 01-15-2013 3:22 PM

I was thinking of using the 13" Seekins Bar with a 16" Stainless fluted Black Rain Barrel I think could look cool and with a Black Rain Billet Norgard Upper/lower combo.

I have one (Raptor) on a Colt 6940, I'm not a lefty, I like the fact that I can use it from either side if needed. Very well built and have not had any issues with it at all, highly recommend it. Have not seen the Bravo Co., one that just came out.?

For around 40 bucks you can't go wrong with the BCM. The extra length of the latch makes it easier to charge if you have optics. And for the bar rail I think it's bad ***. It's light weight and looks effin bad. Here's my 12 inch with a 16 inch barrel...

Huge, huge fan of the BCM Gunfighters. Their also coming out with an ambi version for those whom are "wrong" handed. ;)

phantom77 01-15-2013 5:48 PM

I highly recommend the raptor, the pins are larger than a standard handle, also I shoot with a hasty/loop sling and being able to work the charging handle with either hand is a big advantage. Quality construction and overall size is good. Only downside is pinch points, but haven't been pinched so not a problem for me. I give it a 8/10

I have a couple of the raptors. Really nice charging handles. Not sure they are worth the $80 price tag. I bought at $55 and they are worth that.

I also like seekins stuff, except their lowers. I have their suppressor ready rail on my SBR and it is really nice.

^This

Got mine for the intro price and worth every penny. I would outfit every AR i own at that price. At $75+ I cant justify it being the only left eye dominate one in the family.

Another vote for the BCM Vltor Gunfighter.

prerunners4life 01-15-2013 6:37 PM

BCM... have 4 ar's and they all have the BCM CH

deephouse 01-15-2013 6:38 PM

I use the Rainier Ambi on my Sig M400. Love it. I'm a lefty too. Whatever works for you. I dont think there's a "best" out there...

If you need an ambi or are Left Handed, go for the Raptor.

Otherwise the BCM Gunfighter Medium is an awesome piece of kit.

Looks like some good picks here.

Anyone use the Magpul Bad? If so what do you think?

What Ambi fire Switches do you guys like?

Thanks for all the great info and help.

I and many others use and like the Magpul BAD. It adds more flexibility and speed for actions like reloading or clearing a jam (if you properly train with it).

Regarding ambi selector switches, the Battle Arms Development Ambi Selector Switch (BAD A.S.S.) is the best I've found.

Anyone have or tried the Noveske/magpul Ambi Selector? What do you think vs
the other brands out there?

I personally like the medium (mod 4) the best. Everyone is different but I believe most people prefer the mod 4.

Guitarmoto 01-16-2013 8:48 PM

Ive tried rainier am and its awesome.... but my badger ordnance ambi is the best feeling and operating handle I'm running. I highly recommend it.

Anyone have some opinions on core15s charging handles?

I just ordered the v2.

Eric B 01-17-2013 11:15 AM

My experience is limited to a standard charging handle, a standard charging handle with an ambidextrous latch and today I got my Raptor.

I have never pulled anything as smooth and effortless as that Raptor. Regardless of whether you're pulling on the right, left or both sides, it's like butta'. I will be putting this on my new build when I can cough up another $75.00.

IPSICK 01-17-2013 3:06 PM

I don't know about the badger handle and I'm not sure what handle JP uses, but the charging handle that came with my JP upper with the Badger latch is still the best I've tried.

Really, I mean really Guys? It's a charging handle for crying out loud, try not to over think it too much.

Here is the phase5 off my 308. Have not decided if like it yet. Wanted Bravo but was B/O at the time of the build.

I've been using the new BCM Ambi C.H., as I am a southpaw as well.

I HIGHLY recommend it ... it is flawless, and the medium sized latches (Mod 4) work well with gloves and/or using the palm method from either side.

fmunk 01-17-2013 4:37 PM

Right now I am liking the Rainier Arms one, but have not tried it. The Bravo ones were very popular when I built mine but soon found that they can pinch your finger pretty bad if you are not careful.
