Where in the Bay are you?
What kind of matches?
There are action matches at Chabot Gun Club, United Sportman, and Richmond Gun Club. Even Sac.

wolfoholic 01-23-2014 2:52 PM

5min from SFO

All three are pretty close. Check out their webpages for safety class info and schedules and then pick a match and have fun. (Chabot does not have a safety class requirement.)

Thanks for that I've been meaning to check out 3 gun comp. what I am mainly interested in is improving pistol performance. So anything pistol will go.
You're pretty much limited to a 1911 though in ca correct?

joelogic 01-23-2014 8:45 PM

You are not limited to gun choices. Just mag capacity unless you had them here before y2k.

Chabot 3 Gun is not for first time competitors.

All 3 clubs run pistol matches.

wolfoholic 01-23-2014 8:59 PM

Are there 10rders for a g17

LupusCorp.com

joelogic 01-23-2014 10:10 PM

Of course. Nearly 10rd mags for every gun.

Make google your friend. ;)

That's me. I still do the list, but I'm behind right now because of some personal and work stuff. I'll try to have the list up before the turn of the month.

Awesome thanks! Where would I find the thread in the forum when you post it?

I think Gryff has been too infatuated with his wheelgun lately.

sargenv 01-24-2014 11:00 AM

Gryff with a wheelgun? Really?

Lugiahua 01-24-2014 8:45 PM

I would suggest you start with USPSA at Chabot before moving into 3-guns, unless you are already familiar with action shooting events.

wolfoholic 01-24-2014 11:38 PM

I know my guns very well but I'll definitely check it out, can't hurt always learn ;)

LupusCorp.com

joelogic 01-24-2014 11:43 PM

Its not about the guns, more about the rules and how the match runs.

Lugiahua 01-25-2014 1:23 AM

Furthermore, if your goal is on improving handgun skills, USPSA is more focus on handgun than 3-guns.

There are other handgun events in Chabot anyway, PPC, steel silhouette, bulleyes...etc

wolfoholic 01-25-2014 8:54 AM

Idpa sounds more up my alley

CRTguns 01-25-2014 12:29 PM

joelogic 01-25-2014 1:28 PM

That's OAK not SFO.

wolfoholic 01-25-2014 3:18 PM

Actually a little more like my father having the inconsideration to die on me. I'm very displeased with this turn of familial events.

But, yes...I am liking my wheel guns recently (at least for IDPA).
