Who can Install a Barrel for a FAL?

I'm FINALLY getting my L1A1 receiver from DSA (year and a half wait!) and now I need someone to help with the build! does anyone know of a smith (or anyone really) that can install/time/headspace the barrel for me?? Thanks!

Do not go cheap on barrel installation and headspacing, it must be done correctly the first time. They also have their dedicated subforum within calguns, search around in the main page of this forum.

They won't mind if I dont' have it on an enterprise receiver???

i don't think they mind much. i was there recently and got a fal and in one of the conversations i had they work on all types of fals from century to imbel to DSA. so i don't think they'll mind.

Entreprise will build on pretty much any receiver.
I would also advise you go with them for a build, they have almost 15 years of experience building FALs. Plus, their customer service and turnaround times are top notch.

Another good choice is Rich Saunders at CGW. He's done a superb job on two of my builds, answered all my stupid questions the first time around and it cost and arrived exactly as he said it would.

+1

I have 2 FALs that were built by thedrickel and I couldn't be happier. I think the Para might be my favorite of all my rifles.

M24armorer- Bay Area top notch evil gunsmith (with credentials)
thedrickel- I hear great things, and he's got a FAL BB
Enterprise- I hear good things about them also. I'm sending them a kit soon.

oh, and it's actually pretty easy to do it yourself....

Your in Ventura,do yourself a favor just drive to Irwindale and drop it off
with Matt at Entreprise, don't bother shipping all over the state! Pete

I second that, Matt is a stand up guy. I had my Fal assembled by them and they did a great quality job. All of the staff is great, Ramon is a great smith. I had to drive a ways but I was more than satisfied with their hard work. I am going back to do a transfer through them next week. I highly recommend Entreprise

stay safe

Smiths who can correctly assemble, headspace, and test fire an FAL are already known entities. You friendly local gunshop jockey more than likely doesn't have the tools or knowledge, even though he makes his living as a 'qualified' gunsmith.

Ask on the FAL Files, or pm thedrickel (sp??) here.

A bunch of good stuff has been written about Enterprise, and some not-so-good stuff. Do your due diligence before you spend your money;).

No. I brought my DSA FAL stripped receiver into Intreprise Arms, purchased one of their Imbel parts kits and had them install the barrel. The barrel installation and head spacing cost was very reasonable.

The easiest is George at Fort Courage in Simi Valley. Call Tim and have George get in touch with you. George did Tim's and my FAL. Both of us couldn't be happier.
George can even refinish your parts kit if you want.
He did mine in less than a week.
Thanks,
Builder
