1 round per second, Hungarian AKM handguard is hot!

I was shooting 140 rounds of 7.62x39 out of my Hunganrian AKM63 with the steel handguards at 1 round per second per 10 round mag with 30 second intervals in mag changing and sometimes even 5 minute cool downs. The handguard got hot and the gas tube was burning hot, unbearable to hold on as I traditionally grip the gun since I run an Ultimak Gas tube.

Am I shooting too fast? Basically over the course of 1 hour.

MOE Handguard Getting Really Hot

I recently put an MOE handguard on my ar15 and after firing about 60 rounds it started to get really hot. Not to the point that I couldn't touch it but at the rate it heated up another 50 rounds and it would have been too hot to hold. Does anyone find this weird. I definitely wasn't firing slowly but it wasn't super fast. I prob shot off 60 rounds in 15-20 minutes.

Ok I just sold my I.O. and I have to many AK accessories to not own and AK. So now that im looking for one I want to get the best stamped AK on the market. I've seen the crappyness of the I.O. and now I want to look on the other side of the spectrum. What is the most, rugged and reliable? Fit and finish is important but I'm more focused on that AK reliability. Thanks guys

Winchester Model 94 value?

Has about 30 rounds through it. No rust. Says on the barrel:

Build or Convert? Help.

Hey there guys,

I am currently building my AR and already have everything i need in my hands except a stripped lower receiver (which i already have on order with a vendor on here).

Now, since I have the building bug, I was thinking of getting myself an AK. I know there have been threads on here before about BP and Saiga Conversions, but I need an up to date input and help to find parts at the lowest price possible (college ain't cheap unfortunately).

I am officially leaning towards a conversion of a Saiga (7.62x39). BP will come later after i get some more smithing experience.

Ultimately I want to go from this:

Now I'm going to build this very slowly as funds are slightly limited right now. I would like to see what your guys and gals opinions on how to tackle this with the least amount of $ spent. My budget is about $500.

Where is the cheapest place to buy a saiga rifle? (if outside of CA, who is the cheapest in price for transfers in Riverside/Ontario/Diamond Bar/Corona/etc area?)

Ghost Recon Rifle

This trailer was recently released for the new Ghost Recon game... a live action short film to promote the game. Looks like they fabrcated the primary rifle that's in the game... can anyone see (guess) what the host weapon was?

But I do see a FN-P90, a HK, looks like a Barrett... and a mass of AKs.

ak muzzle brake angled

Hey everyone, I have an ak pistol (7.62) that had the slanted muzzle brake. I didnt like the look of it so i replaced it with a 74 style brake. The 74 style brake looks to be slightly angled down. The muzzle brake is off of a wasr10, which sat on straight. The pictures might not be as good as in person but it is angled down a tad. Will it fire without blowing the brake off? I have a 14x1LH threading kit, would re-thread it but I don't like how the threads are. Seem real shallow. What are my options if it's jacked up?

FN SCAR Bullet button or Raddlock?

Hello fellow calgunners.

Getting ready to purchase a magazine release lock-out for a newly acquired SCAR 17S and I remember reading that there was a preferred type for this rifle but forgot which one.

Right now, riflegear has two different types in stock:

Bullet Button

Any feedback would be most helpful.
And I am also getting the stock block from riflegear as well.

Building my first AR. It will likely be my only AR. Trying to decide whether to buy the tools and assemble the lower myself or pay riflegear to do it for $25. The tools will likely cost close to what riflegear is charging. I've shot plenty of AR's and worked on my friends so gaining an understanding of how it works really isn't an important consideration for me. Time and money are. Is it a bad idea to have a shop assemble it? My only concern is they may not be as careful as I would, but I don't really know for sure that that's true.

Few Questions About Flash Hiders

I'm gonna be sending my rifle in for refinishing or replacement or whatever get worked out. It's a 14.5 with a pinned FH. It was (1) of only a handful of Noveskes with a Sabre Defence Extended A2. I just found out the other day that SDI basically got raided and shutdown, so I have a few questions.

1) Will they be able to reuse the same FH and have it fit properly?

2) Is there anywhere to still get a SDI extended A2?

3) Has anyone had a both a SDI and BCM extended A2? Any differences? I saw an old thread ARFCOM in which some one claimed that the SDI decreased recoil and the BCM increased it. I don't remember the SDI being a FH/Comp but some one else might? When I look at pictures of BCM A2X's the finish seems kinda rough. Do they look bad in person?

4) Thought of something else. My SDI FH was pinned at 3 o'clock. A BCM A2X is pre-drilled on the bottom. Would they have to pin the new FH both underneath and on the side? Would it be pinned at 3 again with the open hole at 6? The threads are damaged when a FH is pinned correct?
