Now where would be the fun if he told you?

Maybe just some hints. Like "know how to stand on your head and fire a rifle." You know...

Objection - The question is so vague, ambiguous and unintelligible as to make a response impossible without speculation as to the meaning of the term "wacky". Without waiving said objection responding party responds as follows:

Santa Margarita Gun Club at Camp Pendleton has some F-Class/Mid-Range matches out to 600 yards...1.42" x-ring at 300 yards, 2.50" x-ring at 500 yards and 3" x-ring at 600 yards for official NRA F-Class target...sounds pretty challenging and a pretty cool/very controlled place to check loads at range.

I don't disclose the COFs prior to matches but you can look back in the various AARs and get an idea. Generically ranges vary between 100 and 865 yards, targets are paper, reactive or steel and can be as small as 1 MOA for the given distance. Positions are mostly prone with some kneeling, siiting, standing and or improvised field position thrown in.

As to rifle, this is a precision rifle match and is designed for a scoped bolt rilfe capable of holding under 1MOA at 100 yards.

Correction.. we also shoot at largets smaller than 1MOA. Specifically, we've been known to shoot .75" targets at 100 yds.

SHIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET...we ain't scurrred.

You guys should just follow Jason and I back up and shoot my match Sunday. 5.5 hours from my door to APS from my GPS. Should be more like 5 to 4.5 depending on Jason's bladder.

Besides its a recon mission so don't mind the cameras and GPS and note taking.....September is when it all counts

I think he meant "roll."

Roll, as in hold your rifle to your body and roll over to the next shooting position, or as in sit in the trailer while we roll from target to target?

The more I think about it, the more confused I get...

Is it just his funny way of calling me fat?

I still do that - in fact we did sitting to prone positional last month . . . this month I have a couple of new places, a couple of new twists to some old stages, maybe an old stand by or two. This month is kinda an even split between paper and steel . . .

Sure - your match fee covers ranges fees for the remainder of the day. Bring your pistol, shotgun, etc.

On rifle during normal business hours we have paper out to 100 (I could swing 150 for you if wanted - steel at 125, 150, 200 and 400. I'll probably have a 6" or 8" plate up on the hill at 400 that may play with you some and let you get used to our cross drafts and thermals.

On a side note i never knew why anyone would carry a pistola at the range, If you are in a stiuation were some wants to take everyone out for there guns. I think you are the first target...

SOF used to require you to carry a pistol on all stages of the match, even if the COF did not include pistol.
If something goes wrong with your rifle or shotgun, you transistion to the pistol and finish it.

I actually wear my pistol on all 2gun and 3gun stages.
I also wear my shotgun shell caddies all day.
Easier to just gear-up once in the morning and add shotgun shells to the caddies or rifle mags to the back pocket as needed throughout the day.

Sometimes having a little padding has its advantages - prone is one of them . . . unless you develope a pivot point in which case you just dig a little depression in the ground . . . now y'all know why I prefer dirt over concrete.
