I bought this off eBay and I can't figure out what it is or how to install and use it. The rails don't expand in width like you would expect (I thought this was for weaver mount but it is too narrow). Any ideas???

Take the SUIT off of whatever mount that is, and get the weaver adapter for it.

(halfway down should work, I think)

I like the length of the existing rail as it spaces the scope back to the right eye releif. I would really like to find out what kind of rail it is. Could it be picatinny?

Maybe an 11mm dovetail, but that would be really akward, considering that's an airgun size rail. It's probably for some proprietary AK mounting system; it's completley unfamiliar to me.

I wonder if this is one of those units that replaces the rear leaf sight on the AK and uses the Krinkov sight as a secondary mounting point. The whole units slides in from the front, then the screws on top are used to tension that block on to keep it tight and then the back clamps at the rear of the dust cover. Check out the Beryl for a better idea of what I am talking about.

The beryl has a weaver base but I see what you mean. I think this might require some wierd dovetail standard because it has to slip on from the rear rather than cant on from left or right. The width spacing of the dovetail is not adjustable.

Nice score! I think it's similar to the SOVIET 1P29 SCOPE, maybe it's for a dragunov? Try to look for the caliber cam and take a pic. Ask tantal or aa-ok, pics below from the aa-ok gun gallery. I was looking for one of those scopes a while back..they're usually 900-1200 or more if you can find one. Seen pics of it mounted on a ak74m. It was also said to be used on the rpk74n. Those scopes are not common in the russian arsenal more for specialized units I believe.

I paid a little over $200. I don't think mine has a ballistic cam though. The seller said that the scope was for the LOS .308 rifle, but I have never heard of that?

You know, with the picture qbert posted, it looks like the lower rail mount is removable. If you look in the picture that shows the dust under the optic, the front mounting point looks like it is held on a small platform with a screw and then the underside picture shows another set of screws at the rear. If you remove the optic it will look almost identical to the ones in qberts post except it doesn't have the AK side rail mount. I'd bet they are the same optic, just a different mounting system.

Yeah it is wierd how it mounts. It has two platforms in the rear that butt against the rail, a spring in the middle that holds it down, and a pointed screw that rests in a v-shaped surface. It will work on the trilux mount that was posted earlier (i think) so I ordered one. I could not find a 1p29 mount to put it on.
