i'm thinking to get few single shot bolt action rifle for some plinking fun. i own a 22lr savage model 15 ss bolt action. i love it. but i'm now thinking about getting another one for a bit more kick. money is a bit tight lately so just wondering what are some available cheap rifle round? one i make sure i can afford the ammo than i can start searching a rifle to go with ammo. isn't that riding the donkey backward? :D

i'm very unfamiliar with rifle, so can you guy be as detail as you can please.

7.62x54 is cheapest right now and you can get a Mosin Bolt action for less than 100 bucks to shoot the ammo with.;)

+1 on the 7.62x54r. It's what I learned to shoot rifles on. Cheap, and big enough to let you learn some flinch control. If you're not sure about the accuracy of mosin 91/30s or m44s, consider a more expensive and more accurate option, an m39.

A custom 5.45x39 bolt action rifle would be a GREAT little hunting gun....

Why bother with bolt action when you can get a semi that will be just as accurate? The ammo isn't great, so the rifle won't do much to improve it.

I've never seen a stock 5.45x39 bolt action gun.

mmmm... i guess i'll pick up a mosin m44 than. Big 5 is on sale right now. anyone know where to get some cheap 7.62x54r?

I wonder how bad the round really is?

the AK74 with milsurp ammo is hardly a real test of how acurate it can potentially be....

Big 5's doing pretty well. I keep seeing people buying Mosins and Mossbergs left and right.:D
