the manual mentions, adjustable two modes of fire, but doens't explain them or how adjust it. i tried finding information about this and have no luck. seeing if you guys might know anything. thanks for taking the time

Your two modes of fire are "Yes and no." For others it's "no, yes and a whole lotta yes."

could the two modes be referring to the gas piston position. One for supprressed and the other for regular?

Yes.
To switch modes, simply remove the piston and turn it end-for-end and re-install.
This changes the amount of gas required to function the gun.
Suppressed guns automatically have longer dwell times so they need less gas to function.

Supressed and Un-Suppressed. Three grooves toward the muzzle when shooting un-suppressed
