View Full Version : Highest Ruger Scope Rings Available?

I have a Ruger rifle and I'm looking for a scope to top it with.
I saw a Millet scope that I like and want to try on my rifle....
Its a Millett Gold Series 6 - 25 x 56mm.
Yup! You read that right! LOL It has a 56mm objective! That objective is practically larger than most spotting scopes out there!
I'm not sold on the scope yet, but its got me thinking? What is the highest set of Ruger rings out there???

I have the stock Ruger high rings on a 243 of mine that came with a cheap scope. Here's a picture. I think that it's a 50mm Objective so a 56mm should work as well since it's only a 3mm increase in radius.

Is that a 50mm? Doesn't look like it, but its hard to tell from a photo...
If that is a 50mm, then those rings should be fine as there is still plenty of space under the objective.
We have the same color rug! LOL :)

If you are going to a 56 you may have a problem in clearance with the forarm heat shield. I mounted a Muller 8.5x25x50 AO Eradicator and had some clearance issues. You can either grind down the small protrusion on the heatshield to gain additional clearance like I did or changed sight mount later. I changed to the Weigand custom picatinny rail and magnum scope rings. I think it set me back about $90 but its a mount well worth the $$. Good luck!

There are lots of Ruger rings out there:
The Ruger links show recommended ring height for various objective diameters.
On the Midway links, click on "Technical Specifications" above the ring pictures to get more details on height. Note that some Rugers use both rings the same height, and others use different heights for front and back - it depends on the rifle model.

Thanks guys... I'm mounting it on a M77.
I'll check out the links at Midway.

OK... Found this at Midway. According there chart, the objective is listed on the left, then the ring should at least be the height listed on the right...
50mm, 1.968 inches .270 inches
51mm, 2.000 inches .270 inches
52mm, 2.047 inches .270 inches
53mm, 2.086 inches .270 inches
55mm, 2.165 inches .270 inches
56mm, 2.204 inches .390 inches
57mm, 2.244 inches .390 inches
58mm, 2.283 inches .390 inches
59mm, 2.322 inches .390 inches
60mm, 2.362 inches .390 inches
I found some Leupold Extra High Rings, that should definately clear the objective... Now... Do I really want that scope, LOL...
