So I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on an AK and I'd like to grab some ammo now. I've seen four different types of 7.62x39 rounds for cheap but I'm not sure which is best/worst.

Russian Golden Tiger FMJ 124 grain
Wolf steel case FMJ 122 grain
Wolf steel case JHP 122 grain
Wolf Military Classic FMJ 124 grain

All four of these are about the same price, all seem to be steel case and non-corrosive. Any feedback on any of this ammo and which I should get?

they are all the same, buy which ever is available, but let me warn you! none of the local outdoor/indoor ranges allow ammo with bi-metal jacketed projectiles, which all of the brands/types of ammo you named above have.

Out of those... whatever you find is the cheapest!

This is the most accurate stuff I've used. . .

I'd be shooting at either Sunnyvale Rod and Gun or Los Altos Rod and Gun, I'm not sure of any ammo restrictions there.

My buddy and I killed off close to 1k rounds there a few weeks ago with our AK's, they're cool with it.

What about "Bear" ammo.. Is that as good as Wolf? I know that sometimes is cheaper in price than Wolf..

Yes - Bear is good ammo - it's made by Barnaul in Russia. That's all I shoot - I've found that it's more accurate in my guns than Wolf. . .

Is there any specific cheap stuff to avoid at all costs?

The Yugo surplus (brass case on 10 rd strippers) is corrosive but you can usually find the usual suspects in the original post a few cents cheaper these days.

Go with Wolf, Golden Tiger or if you want to spend a little extra my personal favorite is anything made by Barnaul. But, the Wolf Mil Classic is great stuff as well... heck when you really sit down and add it up all 7.62x39 is great stuff.

Just buy until it hurts and then buy some more so the cases you bought don't get lonely or cold.
