How is Oly quality and durability?

Nice selection of calibers. 10,40,9 or 45 :)

I saw one at the Reno gunshow once. .45acp upper...and I damned near bought it but I ran out of money before I made it back to that table.

I'd freaking LOVE to find one of the .30 carbine uppers that they made forever ago. If anyone hears of one or has one they're willing to part with, PM ME NOW!

yea i remember seeing a kit in reno from a company called dalphon it took modified m3 mags

but i've heard some complaints about them

also the display model wasn't for sale and you had to order them so it felt fishy

if you want a dedicated 45 lower cncguns.com has a lower that needs to be finished and khalan arms completes it for you. it uses grese gun mags and is all billit.

Fair.
The main thing is that the offer things that almost nobody else offers.
They get bonus points for that, but they lose a lot of bonus points for their overall quality.

Be careful, Khalan seems to have self destructed with respect to both quality and customer service on batch 2. A lot of batch 2 lowers were so out of spec they were unusable. Mine had minor flaws that I could correct easily enough. Apparently all the batch 1 lowers were perfect. That made those of us who took a wait and see approach encouraged that batch 2 would turn out as good or better. No such luck.
Justin at CNC guns and TANGOCHASER (Bill) the designer of the AR45 are looking for a new manufacturer to finish the lowers. You can still buy a 10% lower from Justin at CNC guns directly and finish it yourself.
Read here in the Khalan Weaponry and AR45 forums about the breakdown.http://www.cncguns.com/forum/index.php

Those of us who do have working receivers are very happy. The design is sound.
Olympic is the only non-custom manufacturer that makes 45 ACP parts. You can buy parts individually or buy complete uppers. Oly builds their pistol cal uppers with standard rifle uppers so they have the forward assist (but it serves no purpose in a pistol build).
Many of us are using Oly barrels and bolts and building 45 ACP uppers on RRA 9mm upper receivers. You have to drill them for the Oly pistol ejector but it's not that difficult.
The threads on the barrel are 5/8-24 which is the standard for .308 flash hiders. I took an Armalite .308 flash hider and bored it out to 1/2" on the inside.
Here's my completed rifle. The pic was taken with an empty magazine body only.

A problem with the AR45 for cali is the new designed mag catch. It is made to use unmodified grease gun magazines, but since it is non standard a bullet button won't work. AR45 may not be an option for Cali for this reason.

There are 3 common solutions for the 45 ACP lower. You can read a lot about them here http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=15&t=345390.

For a dedicated lower that you want to use a collapsible stock in california the best bet is probably the BAZ45 from Bazooka Brothers. It is built from a forged lower and the magazine well is replaced to fit the GG mag. It uses the standard AR mag catch and they cut a notch in the left side of the magazine. So a bullet button will work.

Great thing about grease gun magazines, you can squeeze the feedlips a little and get them to work with 10mm. Oly sells 10mm parts too. I'm putting together a 10mm upper for this lower so I can shoot both. Can't wait to shoot 10mm out of a 16" barrel. :)
