View Full Version : Denham Recall Election - Volunteers NEEDED
Gryff

The following is from an IDPA shooter in the Central Valley. Senate Majority Leader (anti-gunner) Don Perata (D) is trying to unseat Senator Jeff Denham (R) with a recall election because Denham would note vote for a spending budget from the D's. Please volunteer if you can.
-----------------------------------------------
I am working for the campaign to save CA state Senator Jeff Denham (R -
Atwater) from recall.
This is a critical campaign because if the Republicans lose another seat
in the senate, the Dems are only one vote away from a 2/3 majority,
meaning they can pass virtually any new taxes and budget they want. Let
your imagination run with that thought for a bit.
I need people to come and volunteer in the Modesto area on the weekends.
*We will provide hotels and meals for all volunteers.*
It will be fun, there are lots of great people here, and you can say that
you took part in a truly historic campaign - this race is being watched
by many, many people in the state and there is a TON at stake.
If you or anyone you know can come help, please let me know ASAP!
Thanks,

It seems like since Prop 93 failed, Perata and his thugs in Sacramento have gone completely nutty... They're out to PUNISH the state for not giving him another decade in office with punitive new taxes, bans on everything from balloons to bullets, and now this?
These people are nuttier than squirrel crap.

You are dealing with some very dangerous squirrel crap here. We can only hope that the feds quit goofing around and do something substantive with their investigation of Perata. This guy has screwed every constituency that he has ever served(?) and deserves a big fall.

Wow, you beat me to it!
I'm the one who sent out the request and I would really, really appreciate my fellow CalGunners help on this!
I know you guys (and gals) are all very active go-getters, and this is an absolutely critical campaign where we need your help and you can truly make a huge difference!
Just imagine the gun control laws the senate would surely pass with a 2/3 majority!
If you are in or near Modesto or Salinas, please, please, PLEASE come out for one or two days on as many weekends as you can to help us out.
If you can help us stretch our budget by providing your own transport and lodging, please do so, but if you need help, we do have limited funds available to help with our volunteers' lodging and transport.
Please call or email me if you can come help starting the weekend of May 10 & 11 and every weekend thereafter until the election on Tuesday, June 3.
If you can come during the week, we will certainly use your help!!
Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon!

Jeff was on KMJ this morning explaining that he's initiating a lawsuit against Perata and the recall campaign for illegally using out-of-district signature gatherers as well as several other improprieties in the whole recall process. I can see a temporary injunction being issued to keep the recall off the June ballot, and the whole thing taking longer than the time that Perata has left.
I really want to see Perata frogmarched out of the Capitol by the FBI. :43:

Ant: Thanks for the praise.
Come on guys......I need your help.
Imagine life in this state after the dems get a 2/3 majority in the senate!!!
This is far, far bigger than just the budget or any other crap - the future of our state hangs in the balance here.
Please, please spend some time and come volunteer your time - that is what we need even more than money at this point.
I know you guys will help us out!

Dear Friend,
We are seeking help in defeating the recall attempt against State Senator Jeff Denham.
This is one of the most critical races in state history because if Senator Denham loses his seat, the democrats will gain a 2/3 majority, enabling them to pass virtually any new tax, bloated budget and gun control law they want, not to mention override the Governor’s veto.
This is also an unjust abuse of the recall process.
Friends of Jeff Denham Against the Recall is organizing precinct walk and voter contact operations each weekend in April beginning on Saturday the 26th and continuing through election day, June 3, 2008. If you and any friends can travel to our Modesto, CA headquarters or our Salinas, CA field office during one of these weekends, it would be a major contribution to our efforts.
As always, we are working to stretch our budget as far as possible. If you and your friends could come to our office in Modesto, CA for as much time as possible, it would be a very meaningful contribution to our effort. If you can volunteer, but cannot finance your transportation and or lodging, please let us know. We do have limited funds available to provide volunteer travel accommodations.
If you can help us, Tax Payers, and the Republican Party win by volunteering your time and becoming a part of this crucial campaign, please contact me at your earliest convenience to make arrangements.
Major Precinct Walk Operations:
May 10 & 11
May 17 & 18
May 24 & 25
May 31 – June 3
Thank you,

I live in that little part of Madera County that's in Jeff's District, which includes the City of Madera. If you look at it closely, it looks like an arm with a hand giving Perata the finger.
If there's any interest about handing out flyers, maybe we can get some from Jeff's office and hand them out at the WalMart or other big stores in Madera.

Can you please email me if you can volunteer for even a couple hours at our office in Modesto??

Guys,
This is important. Please drop party and realize two important things.
1. If Denham loses this, we get one more anti gun vote guaranteed.
2. If the California Republicans don't keep enough seats to have pull on the budget, they lose pull on all other issues including gun rights issues.
Dem, Lib, Rep, we need to be helping out Denham and fellow Calgunner DrjonesUSA on this. If Calguns can make a real difference in the recall - and I know we can - it only adds to our future political power on gun issues in this state. Being part of giving Perata a black eye will increase this sites credibility in Sacramento.
I'm donating $$$. If I can get the time I'll get my own behind down there. I'm also going to be twisting arms of all the Central Valley Calgunners to get themselves and their friends behind keeping Denham in office.

its this simple:
Jeff Denham defeats the recall attempt or an anti gunner IMMEDIATELY takes office while the ammo bills are sitting in the Senate.
that is the choice: defeat the recall or lose a pro civil rights vote the very next day.
what other election can you name, where a calgunner is professionally involved and the choice is so black and white?

One vote away from the lunatics running the asylum.
For those who aren't big fans of Republicans, I'll just say Mr Denham is not an OC 'thumper' - and letting Denham's opponent(s) triumph results in one-party rule.
Remember that this is really Perata vs. Denham.

Keep pushing this!! I would suggest that once this is all over and the measure is defeated, that Jeff's team put together another recall effort against Perata for wasting the taxpayers money on stupid **** like this and for trying to agenda-ize the assembly. ******* that he is.

Another hit pc on Denham
http://www.sacbee.com/static/weblogs/capitolalertlatest/012280.html
The campaign to recall Sen. Jeff Denham has released its second television ad of the campaign, another hard-hitting spot targeting Denham for pay raises he took in "secret" during the budget crisis.
Denham came into office in 2002 with a voluntarily reduced salary and continued to turn down pay raises until 2006, when he turned down on raise while accepting another. He repeated the pattern in 2007.
"Denham took the raises politicians didn’t deserve," the ad accuses.
Capitol Alert first reported the pay hikes in January.
The pro-recall forces should have the funds to air the ad. They have received $850,000 in contributions in the last week, including $450,000 from the California State Council of Service Employees, $300,000 from AFSCME and $100,000 from the California Democratic Party.
They are showing a vid on this link. Interesting how one
doesn't see any evidence regarding Perata, etc.
It's not really about Denham anymore. Perata wants it all !
Check it out. Denham and fellow GOP'ers pointed out that
huge deficits would come forth. Perata says it doesn't
matter what he or others said. The state has a high deficit
and now has to raise taxes. Perata wants another Dem
so he can move his twisted agenda forward. Perata is the
one that needs to go. I can't say where I think he needs
to go or I'll get banned, but anyway..>
http://www.sacbee.com/static/weblogs/capitolalertlatest/012306.html
excerpts
'Maldo's a good contrast to Jeff'
Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata gave an extended interview with the Associated Press this week about his role in the recall of Sen. Jeff Denham. Perata said one motivation was to get Democrats closer to being able to pass a budget with tax increases.
"If I have an opportunity of picking up a Democrat who would support a balanced approach to solving the budget problem, I'm going to do that," Perata said.
Perata contrasted Denham, who held off voting for last year's budget during a 52-day standoff, with Sen. Abel Maldonado, the moderate Santa Maria Republican who sided with the Democrats.
"In terms of someone who is willing to look at the overall health of the state of California as opposed to narrow ideology, Maldo's a good contrast to Jeff," Perata said.
Denham and his GOP colleagues have made the argument that they was right, that the budget was out of balance. The state deficit ballooned in the months following the passage of the 2007-08 budget.
Perata dismissed those arguments. "It's immaterial whether or not he was right that there was a deficit coming," he said. "The fact of the matter is we now have a huge deficit now, and he has taken the 'No, I won't tax, it's got to be all cuts.'"
A Denham spokesman said Perata just wants to "install a puppet" in order to "massively raise taxes."
This is all about power and entrenching a party that
I doubt will ever again be a minority in the legislature.
More & more I have to agree the flag will have to be
changed if this kind of crap continues.

Hey doc, any idea of when we can find out what is going on with this?
I certainly hope that the Denham group are checking every single signature on the "recall" to ensure that all of them match voters in HIS district. IIRC, the only ones that count are the ones in HIS district, yes? All the others must be thrown out?
If Perata's case turns out to be bunk, can the Denham camp counter-sue Perata for wasting the taxpayers money, time and resources?? Can HE be recalled back? :D

what is going on is that the election to recall Jeff Denham will be held on June 3rd.
there is not a lawsuit or complaint that will stop that.
the only way to counter it is to have more voters int he 12th district check "NO" than those who check "YES"
