View Full Version : Ferfrans muzzle brake: How well does it actually work?

I'm curious, I see these one almost every AR pistol out there with the DB/Flash killer. And they do look sick. Reason why I plan on getting mine for my pistol.

I assume that's why many others get them as well, very clean looking brake for pistols and the flash killer does aid on pistols. BUT! I have yet to see anyone go into detail or compare these and 1) how well the brake it self works.. 2) how loud/bright the brake is with out the flash killer.. And 3) how many DB's/much flash does the limiter actually kill??

I'm still going to get one for the sheer clean look, but I'm curious on if these are actually good/amazing brakes/systems, looks aside.

So does anyone have any videos/links or testimonial of tests on these and how they stack up, performance wise?

CK, The best way to do this is to try it yourself. You're local to me and you can demo mine at Raahauges or On-Target (if you have a rifle card) if you wish.

The brake by itself works excellent and on par or even better than my MB556 SF Brake. You do get a little more felt recoil with the CRD on but not that much.

In the meantime: here are a couple vids for you:

On a pistol with just the brake on it, you will rattle your teeth :D

We've sold a bunch of these and everyone loves them. They are very effective at taming the bark.
My only complaint is the size and weight. If you just want to tame the noise from your gun and stay legal a Levang Linear comp or it's tacti-cool copy the Troy Claymore tame noise very well and weigh very little.

Ferfrans is def bad *** and works for a pistol. Price tag hurts though.

This place has knock off ones for 50$ no clue on the quality.

The Kinetitecs have been around longer, but not exactly the same thing. They work, but aren't as pretty or clean as the Ferfans

Oh really? I was googling for a ferfrans copy or similar via google and they popped up. At least it's not a fly by night company then.

Pretty sure, I remember seeing them on IG and here before seeing the Ferfans. The Kinetitecs are heavier though, Ferfans definitely refined the idea a little better IMO

Personally I'd never buy a clone MD for safety concerns.

What safety concerns are there?

The CRD being used in the sandbox. Double taps in full auto made easy by the Ferfrans Rate Reduction System:

You need to wear full operator gear and multicam to make it work well :D :hide:

Wow! Does anyone know that rifle set up? I want that recoil, or lack there of.

It a DD Mk18 Mod1 (10.3" Barrel) with a Ferfrans BCG with its firing rate reduction system. Makes it much easier to control in FA.

Here's a link to a DR Article showing pics of the rifle; it ain't the prettiest but it works downrange: linky (http://www.defensereview.com/u-s-military-operator-conducts-2x2x2-shooting-drill-on-semi-auto-and-full-auto-using-mk18-mod-1m4a1-cqbr-upper-receiver-with-ferfrans-ff-dsasrrs-bcg-and-ff-cqb-mmbscrd-video/)
