Looks like there is a group buy over at AR15.com for Spike's Tactical stripped lowers at $100.00 each starting May 1st (http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=121&t=535833).

Tom from Spikes Tactical has stated they will ship to CA and they have FFL's on file. :D

I'm so there... I was already going to buy 3 of another Lower brand at $145. Now I'd be able to get 4, maybe even 5 if I up my budget by $50. ;)

I got my Double-Star lower for a total of $160. By the time I pay for the tax and the DROS, won't this be about the same?

No tax. But DROS, FFL fee & Shipping. It will be probably more.

Yeah, FFL fee will almost assuredly make this a decent but not great deal, unless you've got someone transferring for $25.

Just buy multiples
2 @ $100 = 200
Shipping +/- $20
DROS $25
FFL Fee $50 (JK Supply Co for those of you in Sac)
Total = $295 or $150 Each

4 @ $100 = $400
Shipping +/- $20
DROS $25
FFL Fee $50
Total = $495 or $126 Each

10 @ $100 = $1000
Shipping +/- $40
DROS $25
FFL Fee $50
Total = $1115 or $112 Each

Not rain on anyone's parade but Anvil Arms has been selling their receivers for $100 and they are a great company.

LOL....welcome!

I've had a spike's lower and it was great but I sold it. It was cheap but worked like a charm. honestly after seeing so many lowers and comparison pictures they are all pretty much made to the same specs. Two years ago I bought the lower for $100 locally and it gradually went up. It's an ok deal. The price the FFL will charge won't make it such a great deal unless you buy a bunch.

Im wanting to build a CA legal AR (with Fixed mag BB)

Would this lower (SL-15) be legal to own?

I haven't used their lowers yet but I have heard nothing but good things about them. I actually do know that their customer services is good, they answer emails super fast. Someday I'll use them. And they offer free laser engravings on the side of their magwells. It costs like $10 or something to do it anywhere else or to have a non-AnvilArms lower laser engraved.

I'll my lowers are Spikes and they also answer emails super fast. Both Anvil Arms and Spike's Tactical are awesome companies.

Yes, it's legal. Whatever lower is not on the DOJ ban list of make & model is good to go in CA.

My friend, you have some work to do before you get started.

Please read through this:
http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=56818

this:
http://www.tenpercentfirearms.com/index.php?main_page=ar15

and this:

It's very important you understand what's legal and not, as well as why.

Welcome to Calguns.

How about upper fits? Which uppers fit Spike's lowers without modification or ugly gaps?

That would be like needing a pilot's license if I painted wings down the side of my car.

Anyway, if nobody warns me otherwise, I'm picking up one of those Spike's lowers.
