My girlfriend will be writing an opinion piece for her college's newspaper. She is the editor-in-chief, pro-gun, and I think a better shot than I am!

I'm trying to get verifiable information to help her with the article. Any kind of info that you can produce, like how the Brady's construe/lie about stats to try and make it sound like their laws work. Or how they violated any laws, if any in the past.

Anything that you can come up with would be helpful, really.

I believe this will be released Monday of next week before a "helpful" lie-in that the Brady Campaign will be staging.

Thanks!

I hate to say it, but just go read their website and any of their literature. If you know anything about gun rights it is hard not to pick up on their tactics. Doom, fear. Any normal person once handed a gun will grow fangs and kill his grandmother sort of stuff. Really quite pathetic if you ask me. But this sort of thing must work on your average person, you know, morons.

My ex used to be naive on this. I'd say "Remember that 50% of the population has below average intelligence." She'd argue that it couldn't be nearly that bad (yes, really, :43:).

Then she got a job dealing with the general public. Her opinion changed dramatically to the point where she then decided that 90% of the population had below average intelligence.

Brady Campaign President (or some higher up) on a radio show conceding that the AW ban didn't work and bans on high caps make no sense. He also tells the DJ that the Brady Campaign is no longer pushing for another AWs ban. Then later endorses the McCarthy bans: http://youtube.com/watch?v=rMNMihiUW3w

Brady Campaign hangs signs that say that Florida residents can shoot anyone under ridiculous circumstances. Another lie: http://youtube.com/watch?v=uhIeHVm66Yk

Brady Campaign's Legal Director during an interview with the news purposely miss quotes the 2A after the DC handgun ban was struck down: http://youtube.com/watch?v=L5QvYliZCq8

That's only because intelligence approximates a bell curve, it's not a tautology. If you said 50% of the population has below median intelligence, then it would be a tautology.

Try and search for past news articles in where they made statements. You can cite their web page for your own arguments. Paul Helmke has been known to make gun ban statements in the past. Something tells me he hasn't changed. He's just using more indirect methods.

Here's where they tried to raise money on the backs of tragic victims.

Lies from Paul Helmke:

Do more searches.

Use real research to destroy their lies. Some of John R. Lott's books come to mind.

Oh, and I love how they argue against violence, with no distinction between positive, or good violence such as self defense. It's almost as if these elitists who run this, and other organizations hold so much disdain for the common man, they don't acknowledge our right to exist.
