I just wonder how many of our 21K MGs are with Private Individuals vs Movie Industry, LE, Dealers, etc...
Some have to be owned by Individuals that have kept them for the last few decades. I find it hard to believe that Californians lost 21K Transferable MGs in a boating accident. ;)

NO.
Police and Govt guns are not subject to NFA registration so those are not counted in that report.
These are privately or company held NFA items.

Police NFA firearms are registered with the BATF, they just don't have to pay the tax. ;)

Oh, I know... I´ve been waiting for Mr. Bill to let the cat out of the bag.
I can already get the stuff in TX, but I really want to add to the CA count of NFA items. ;)

***EDIT*** Just found the thread here: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=82693
Looks like vandal was successful, so I may give it a try. This is awesome for me because I can deal with my dealer in TX and have the flexibility to take it back and forth with me between TX & CA.

Doubt they are in Police hands. I don't know of a single department other than federal police that uses machine guns for anything other than testing.

Has to be hollywood.

Are you serious? I can name a dozen Bay Area PDs that have select fire weapons for their SRT/SWAT teams. I should know; during the 90's I sold and serviced most of them.

I would guess that "entertainment" (film/TV/Stage) productions own most of the MG's. Most of the rest would belong to museums, dealers for demo purposes, and a very, very few belong to private individuals as personal property.
