I have a few steel mags and I am storing them in plastic bags. Before placing them in the bags, I coated them in CLP. They are stored in a container with a golden rod.

Is this a bad idea?

I just use a 30cal ammo can no bags or CLP..... I have mags stored this way for the last 15yrs now with no ill affects....The CLP is a good idea.. but depending on how you store the mags that are already in the bags will determine the shape they will be in down the road..

I use ammo cans too, and if you're really worried about moisture getting into the ammo can, throw some descecant bags in there for good measure.

I have some old magazines in a backpack in the closet and some in a gun safe, some in the garage, etc. I was digging through a box in the garage the other day and found a bag with three Glock magazines in it and I don't even own a Glock.
