If we do get a 007 license, we're going to need big money for CNC equipment plus additional machinery. It all depends on how things go. For now, we intend to do just gunsmithing for remington 700s and savages and small parts for tactical rifles.

Joe also has an additional route as a regular machine shop. If my biotech ipo investment pulls throught the way i'm hoping for, I'll have the money. If not, we're going to need an investor.

Sorry Timber to pull 3 guys out of your match. I didn't intend to. I need to makes things happen again. If we ever get it pulled together, you'll get hooked up for sure.

What does a CNC run for anyways?

I was actually looking at the CNC classes after I sat in for part of one. Looks interesting. It's like a combination of computer programming and machining.

I'm liking the regular machining classes though especially since they're on Saturdays. I just want to make some of my ideas/ inventions materialize.

For our uses 40-60k for a CNC Mill. If we need a CNC Lathe then that's another 40-60k. Then there is the cost of getting the 07 set up like a safe, city license, etc.

But, 150 actions would take care of the cost of 1 machine which is not bad at all. Imagine the possibilities. Plus side contracting jobs, and other parts like tactical bolts, rings, rails, aluminum stocks. Give people a quality product at an affordable price (better than everyone else), and the masses will come. No fluff, or "elite" type of marketing, just real products at kick *** prices.

I plan to market everything through the R+D name. We'll see how things go though. 1 step at a time.

exactamundo. I'm thinking of renting out my main house, and poor all my excess cash flow into the business. We can always lease the machines, and work our way up. Right now it's just a dream. I had tons of ideas of in my lifetime. Lots of bad ones, but some good ones. I used to run a 800k/a year business before. Mayby I can do it again. But this idea has more potential. Remember we have a master machinist that we can always consult. Once the program is in and product tested, it's as good as gold.

I'm not the smartest man, but I can get creative in business.

R&D name? You think you just gona run with Randy? Just wondering here not jumping on anything.

Randy, Joe, and I are having a meeting this saturday to talk over some gunsmithing stuff. I have other ideas besides gunsmithing that I want to propose to Randy. Nothing set in concrete yet. Just alot of ideas that's been going on the last couple of months.

Randy is interested in seeing our work. He has been helpful to us since day 1. I'm just trying to take it to the next level for all of us. We'll see how it things go. Like most things in life, it's all about timing. If everything works out, it'll be great cause I have alot of ideas and besides it's my dough that is taking the huge risk. With Randy's name and expertise, Joe's backbone and machining skills, and my marketing and money I think I can get a real successful business going on for all us to profit and profit well.

If things don't work out they way I want it to be, it wasn't meant to be. At least, I can get Joe some work and help Randy with his work load.

Performance looks so similar between those two loads that I would stay with the 30-06 for it's better barrel life and lower powder usage.

In a good mood? Same old for me. Gotta do some paper work (Trial by Declaration) to fight a speeding ticket and drop it off at the West Covina Courthouse.

Went to class last night.. found out that our first project is actually nothing more than a excercise that you throw away! Anyhow.. next thing I'm learning is threading so that should be cool. Just grounded my tool for it. It's even more work than the cutting tool.

Except for the coffee and the air (I'm near the beach) I am feeling the same way.....oh and downloading a movie. Paperwork can wait till tomorrow or when my boss gets here.

We were talking with Randy from 10:30-2:30 straight. He is always so full of knowledge that he can talk forever. Learned today, you can't do nothing without a FFL. With a regular dealer FFL, you can do 49 rifles before getting severly taxed from the atf.

Joe lives too far away from Randy to do work on a regular basis, but he is working on a project for Randy. Only way to make things legal would be for Joe to do work at Randy's place, but they live like a 100 miles from each other. Doesn't make sense especially with the crazy cost of gas nowadays.

Suprised you did not know this already.
This is the biggest hinderance for me.

To make actions, you need an 02 manufacturer's FFL.
Then you can properly pay the excise tax on each rifle you build.
Licenses like this are hard to get in the LA area.
Joe would probably have better luck due to his location.

ya but paying $200 per action is ridiculous in tax money alone. i know the margains that certain manufacturers have, and i'm quite shocked to know how small the margains really are. custom actions are worth every penny.

i thought i could do work by subcontracting, but didn't know you had to do the work at the ffl's place of business. so much red tape. guess it's back to the drawing board on my next idea. when it comes down to it, it's not enough money to go around to make the effort and money invested. too much risk, not enough dough. the gun industry is too saturated. you only make money if your the first one to think of it and put he product our first before anyone else. everything else is just a grind.

Bob and I were talking after the match and I may let him run it in either May or June so that I can get something under my belt before July besides ringing that damn buff to stir up shooters. Though I must admit we left the 8" plate up there and I got bored by mid afternoon.

Heck yeah he's a fast shooter. I knew he would outshoot me but I wasn't going down without a fight :)

Game theory dictates I should have concentrated harder to score 5 knowing fully well he would do it fast and I really didn't have a chance based on speed. But then the spirit of competition got the best of me and I just went at it. It was a good time.

You and Joe better not miss the next one(s)!

Ryan kicked some butt and teased me w/ his scope. Ryan is a good indian with a magic bow :)

I can't believe I messed up the milling and the subsequent round.. I was totally unprepared! Another lesson learned. Won't happen again.

One of the thing I also like about Timberwolf's match is the fact that you can have lots of fun and it's still quite inexpansive. I think I only shot around 20 rounds for the whole match but it doesn't feel like it. Most other matches require 50 + Rounds for the same amount of fun.
