After much debate, it was decided to add the PWS (www.primaryweaponsystem.com) piston system semi-drop in kits to our inventory. We committed to be a Certified Installer and so are able to convert your gas operated AR into one that runs on their semi-adjustable piston system.

I can honestly say I didn't think there'd be much of a difference switching to a piston system, especially with regard to recoil, but am pleased to say I was VERY surprised at how efficient it was when it came to controlling recoil, keeping the bolt/upper cool and most of all how it continued to run and run and run and ...

Jenny and I will both be sharing one of these "upgraded" ARs at this weekend's BARC and have faith that it'll run the match without issue; even with both of us sharing it. I still can't get over how CLEAN things were/are. The barrel and handguards were too hot to touch and yet we were able to handle the bolt without any sort of protection from heat (there was NONE.)

The flip side is the FSC and DNTC comp(s) that they offer. It looks no bigger than a standard FH (and looks like one with a letter from the ATF classifying it as a comp), but actually does control recoil very efficiently. It really has to be shot to be believed.

We'll be out at RRGC tomorrow (Sat) and I welcome anyone that hasn't had the pleasure to shoot one of these to find me and try it out. I'll provide the first mag for you to check it out. Notice for yourself how clean (and cool) it'll leave most of the rifle, not to mention how well the comp/FH works.

We have the systems in stock and an upper or two that already have them installed for sale. The base system runs $400 installed on your upper for carbine and mid length systems, with options to convert your M4 handguards at the time of installation for a minor additional charge. You can also opt to have a rail system installed at the same time should you want the complete package. Relatively quick turnaround on the conversion and a lifetime guarantee on the product itself. Please refer to http://primaryweapons.com/store/pc/viewcontent.asp?idpage=4 or contact us at the shop (or via PM) should you have any additional questions.

Those of you that know us at IA understand that we don't believe in "white elephants". If this hadn't impressed us to the level it had, we would not be offerring this to y'all. It really is an affordable improvement to your existing or new CA AR rifle.

:cheers2:

Just a follow up: 3 shooters shot roughly 800 rounds through a PWS equipped upper at BARC this weekend. There were ZERO malfunctions and in the end, the bolt, carrier and receiver only look like this:

http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p100/franksremote/Share%20Vid/Top.jpg

The last stages we shot were the 150 yard ones and I can honestly say that accuracy wasn't diminished by the rounds shot through it all day long. I cleaned the upper Saturday night and lubed with CLP. At the end of the Sunday, there is still CLP left on the bolt and none of the crud usually expected on the bolt, in the receiver and everywhere else it manages to get.

Did I mention it ran ALL DAY LONG? The FSC comp, in conjuction with running the gas system in the low setting, worked exceptionally well (in controlling recoil as well as dot tracking) as can be seen in the videos.

Got a JP ultralight barrelled upper to work on, I think it's gonna be one soft shooter with the reliability of a piston system. Will range report when I get it together...

cough.. because it's still not together... cough

I can say that the RRA unit we did shoots fantastic. I'm chasing moving 2 lb coffee cans with ease.

The receiver has not been hot since I did the conversion. The front site needs a heat sink though ;) This rifle shoots very softly and very reliably. The brass ejection is consistant and the cleanup is even easyer than it was originally.

wow. that recoil looks like what we see in the movies.

I gotta check this out. What is the turn around time?

I cant answer the rail fitting question but it's only a couple days turn around.

I take mine out and let people shoot it al the time. The minus gas setting is like shooting a .22 mag. With my Eotech @ the 40 yard range keeping on a moving target is childs play ( so it a really big child).

depends on the OD of the barrel. if its a .750 then yeas it will work.

as for the LEO discount i need to talk with martin or frank about it. i think thats something PWS does on their own... but let me discuss it with them.

on a side note, i didnt get out last monday, i will be at livermore rod and gun today in about 30 mins. so if anyone wants to play... hit me up.

im not taking a bunch of ammo tho as i need to set up a BBQ... gonna test a few guns, touch off a couple hundred rounds and call it a day.

Yes, the COLT M4 upper barrel is 0.75" O.D. with a YHM 4-railed handguard. Thanks- Just let me know if I'll need new handguards to fit the PWS piston conversion. -thanks, -Mark

it should.

The big requirement is a .750" barrel diamiter at the gas block.
