Best price I can find is ammunitiontogo.com
Here's a little spreadsheet I did trying to gear up for the Area 52 Shoot, sorted by price per round.

I'm still new to .223 ammo. Whats a good but cheap ammo to get in terms of brand and gr.? I heard wolf ammo was a brand not to use.

For target shooting less than 300yds, a 55gr should be your cheapest option. Any brand that uses brass casing should be fine. Wolf uses steel casing and it's a hit or miss. Buy a couple of boxes and see how it works for your gun.

Yeah, that's in line with the PVRI at about $0.38/round, but as you can see from my table above, that deal can be beat!

I'm not a wolf lover...but it works fine in my rifles for plinking ammo (I've shot thousands of rounds of it). Just always clean the chamber real well after using wolf before switching back and forth from brass case ammo.

I've never met a .223 ammo of any variety that wasn't fine out of a 14.5" barrel to 400yds.
the 55gr M193 varieties are your best bet for cheaper.
Anything is good, though, even Wolf. Like said above, just clean things up a bit.

That spreadsheet sure helps me justify scrounging brass and reloading them for 12 cents a round... :)

Amen to that, as long as you know how many times the brass has been reloaded, otherwise a lot more inpsection time's involved than normal inspections.
Once fired is the best though! (I have noticed that American Eagle's brass walls can be thin, but I still reload it for plinking rounds without issue.)
