Watch your front hand position. More than one of my friends has had scortch marks on their fingers from my 7.5 in barrel.

i shot it at burro, and the quality was pretty good. there was a nick at the end of the handguard, but i didnt care, it was going to be replaced anyway. One thing that bothered me, was that the inside of the upper receiver was kind of rough. whenever i pull the charging handle back, it doesnt have a smooth pull to it. you have to wear it out a little. but it looked pretty clean and wouldnt think it was junk.

You have to jump through some hoops, but the basic answer is yes.

There are three paths to owning an AR pistol in CA.

1. Have someone out of state modify an AR pistol on an unlisted lower to be both single shot and bullet buttoned, then find a friendly local FFL to transfer it in through. Sleds are available to make the pistol single shot though the cautious also disable the gas system.

2. Buy a pistol lower PPT in California from someone (like a LEO) who is exempt from the safe handgun list.

3. Manufacture a lower and mark it pistol, then build it into a single shot with a bullet button.

Once you've completed one of 1 -3, you can modify your pistol to be semiautomatic but you obviously have to keep the bullet button on at all times.

Also if you know an FFL that will order the pistol lower and allow you to build it in their shop will work as well. Just as hoffmang said it must be a single shot and have a bullet button for the DROS. Once you get it home you can put a 10 round mag in it.

There are lowers marked as pistol. Mine is a Mega Pistol Lower. Or you can use any lower as long as it is first DROS'd as a pistol and not a long gun. However I would recommend that it be marked as pistol to be safe.

Yes the FFL I use told me this, there is also a good thread on it here that states that but I can't seem to find it right now. I will keep looking for it and post the link for you.
