Had an itch for a rimfire bolt action rifle. Decided to use American brand name accessories too (Redfield Battlezone Scope and Harris bipod).

It's a great shooter! It's accurate with all types of 22

Is the barrel on these somewhat of a medium bull barrel? It seems thicker than my standard 10/22.

The barrel is a little bit thicker.

I just DROSed three, two standards and one compact. Shouldering one in the store was very disappointing, the stock feels like crap. Well, I'll probably be swapping out the stocks eventually.

SWMBO will probably want one (probably with a scope), and the other two will be for n00bs and Appleseed. Last year before these came out I was looking for a nice bolt-action rimfire. Because it was for Appleseed, I wanted an American-made one (so no CZ). I bought a Savage, and when I brought it home discovered it was made in Canada!

Plus it has a cheesy Fisher-Price stock that I can't replace because all the aftermarket stocks are for scopes; and the factory magazine curls forward and slices into my arm when using a sling for support. I'm not a happy Savage customer.

I only learned about these Rugers when I saw the Turners sale ad this week! We have dozens of 10/22 magazines, these are going to be great!

RAR 22" Standard. Got it yesterday. Like it a lot. Trigger is niiiiiiiice. A compact seems likely in my future, add small red dot, perfect for very young Applseeders/beginners.

I picked one up for my son. It was this or the Savage Rascal. I went with the American since it's a gun that can adjust as he grows. It will also be similar to the 10/22 I buy him next.

I still want to pick up a RAR compact in 22WMR. I love my 22LR RAR, it's so fun and accurate.

I agree. The trigger is sweet.

Wayyy better than the stock triggers on 10/22.

Man these are good looking 22lr rifles! I bought mine on a whim, unexpected sale price while browsing local gun store... they look like great quality firearms for the budget price point they have been placed in...

It's among my most used rifles, it's just plain fun. I recently got a Boyd's stock for it and she looks even better. Excuse the crappy cell pic but you get the idea [emoji16]

I put Boyd's stock on mine it looks beautiful and shoots great...I have an older Simmons Pro-hunter 4-12x40 (or something) mounted on mine it will cloverleaf even with trash ammo at 50 yards.

Ruger American Rimfire on a Boyd's Rimfire Hunter Stock in Forest Camo laminate. The boys stock feels so much nicer and shoots so much better than the factory stock.

Scope is an older Simmons Pro-hunter 4-12x40 AO.
