I'm thinking Angeles since I haven't been there in a while but APS is always good. I need to do some more chrono work either way.

Anyone wanna go?

Darn. I'll be at the vegas match. How far is Angeles from APS?

About 20 minutes or so. From LB I take the 405 to the 118 to the 210 to get to Angeles or just keep going up the 405 to the 5 and hit APS. Maybe 20 minutes more. Only diff is APS opens an hour earlier so I can get an hour more shooting in. Angeles just has all that sexy steel but APS has Timberwolf.

Hmmmm.

Good luck at the Vegas match. I love going to those but I won't be doing that again till June probably. I'm sure you'll kick some butt.. but remember.. a RD Rig + the best optics = no excuses!

Any plans of coming back with another target? Perhaps one of those new hostage targets for us to play with? :)

Dude.. if I could get him to weld the hostage plate on my springloaded target, it would be perfect.

No worries Peter, do what you got to do to keep your sanity. I actually REALLY enjoy the class. We got to go get in some shooting sessions soon. Still up for some skeet or did did you already burn up your available range time? Nothing is more stress relieving than blowing up clays flying through the air with a shotgun.

How was today's ASR session?

It went well. I had a lot of fun. I found a target at 400 yards I really liked. Looks to be about a 8 to 12 inch plate. I forgot to ask how big it was when I left. If you go look to the left of the second tree from the right at 400 yards. There are 4 small targets there. A pig, ram and 2 small plates. The furthest right target of the group is a swinger. I shoot a really nice group on the freshly painted target. Kinda fun to keep that bad boy swinging.

I learned something about my shooting as well. After shooting prone so much I can't shoot from a bench anymore. It just feels weird shooting off of bags on a bench. I shot like **** that way. From the dirt I was shooting nice cloverleaf groups.

My gun loves 175g SMKs. For "short" stuff the 175s are on point. I need to work on my 155g Scenar load a bit. The load seems tighter at longer ranges but is not that accurate at 100 yards like the SMK load is. The beauty is it took 12 minutes to get to 600 yards vs 13.75. Also the 175smk load is running 1 minute lower at 100 yards at Angeles. For some reason at APS the same loads have the same POI at 100 yards. The 175g SMKs are loaded with 41.5g of 4895. The federal brass is going away as well. I blew 5 primers. None of the other 50 rounds I shot showed any sort of pressure signs but about 5 rounds of FGMM/4895/175smks popped there primers completely out.

The rifle is working flawless. I am very happy with the results. Now I just need to figure out if I want to paint the barreled action or not. I may just paint the action and leave the barrel stainless and just blast it.

Oh and Pete shot good as well :) I also found 223 to be boring now. I only shot about 20 rounds from my AR and got bored. I need to start shooting 3 gun. Just need to get the trigger on my XD worked on and get an autoloader shotgun.

Top left group is 5 shots. 2 rounds went threw the same hole, twice. The center group is 5 and i pulled one, same on the right.

always fun shooting with nayt. i had a chance to recorrect my dope at 400yards. always nice to shoot steel when it's freshly painted. it was a good time to relieve some stress. one thing i learned today, don't worry about money too much. as long as i got my family, everything else is ok

on a side note, shooting next to a 50 is definitely good practice. you just got to zone everyone and everything out, and just concentrate on the target.

That's how I pulled that round on the center target. He got me with the muzzle blast as I pulled the trigger. I was 2 benches down :)

I'm only a couple weeks away from having an extra benelli "loaner" so people can quit using my shotgun when I take them to 3gun matches.

Depending on the powder/bullet, that's a moderate load.
There are loads to 235gr with the powder I'm running in my 50.
I load 220gr too though.
