While researching whether a certain rifle was on the Kasler and/or Roberti-Roos list, I came across the following:

http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/forms/pdf/Cfl2007.pdf

This document is entitled:

California Firearms Laws
2007
California Department of Justice
Edmund G. Brown Jr.
Attorney General

. . . and is linked from the BOF homepage as "California Firearms Laws Summary Booklet."

While reading it, I had to laugh, as it is completely out of date. Here are some excerpts:

The legality of any specific act of possession or use will ultimately be determined by applicable federal and state statutory and case law.

[Emphasis added]

Then:

The term “assault weapon” also means any firearm specified by the Department of Justice as an AK or AR-15 series weapon pursuant to Penal Code section 12276(e) and the California Supreme Court decision in Kasler v. Lockyer. As a result of this Penal Code section and court decision, all AK and AR-15 series rifles are assault weapons regardless of their characteristics.

[Emphasis added]

No mention of Harrott v. Kings County at all.

ALSO:

As AK and AR-15 series weapons are identified, they will be added to the roster.

Wrong!

I think maybe it's time for another petition to the OAL!

AB 2728 (Stats. 2006, ch. 793) (Klehs)
C Repeals DOJ's authority under Penal Code §12276.1 to identify Colt AR-15 and AK-47 type “series” assault weapons by name, or to seek a judicial declaration that a firearm is identical to an assault weapon listed in Penal Code section 12276.

Find those responsible and have them fired, evicted, then prosecuted or sued.

I'll be happy if they just update the PDF.

EDIT: seems to me that the real problem with the BOF's PDF is that it doesn't mention Harrot at all. See http://rkba.org/judicial/harrott-kings-county-casupct.pdf - that is the case that says that the BOF (DOJ) must specifically list "named" assault weapons. The BOF is flat wrong that AK series and AR series are all banned. This simply is not true any more.

I know this is old news for us - but for people that read that PDF, including LE, it's a bunch of FUD that the BOF is spreading.

I will have more news on this in a few days.

Find those responsible and have them fired, evicted, then prosecuted or sued.

I think they have an undercover FUD spreading division. Just the other day I saw a truck with a FUD logo all over it.

I think they are using a Mexican Hotdog company as a front.
