In June 2012, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez banned all sales of firearms and ammunition to civilians:

Up in the bay area, where lefties felt safe, plenty of people (that I spoke to) outright supported Chavez.

This video was posted just a coupla weeks ago or so. It's from the perspective of a man who still has a good job in Venezuela, IIRC he does the illustrations for the popular YouTube series, "One Minute Physics".

Def. seems like their pot has been simmering for a while...

What has happened in Venezuela is a travesty, ordinary folks have had all of their rights abrogated...not just their rights to own firearms.

The American response has been tepid at best; No way to treat old friends.

Do your homework on Ven, look at it's rich history. Do not accept this "revolution" as an expression of S Bolivar, his perspective riled against tyranny.
