Which one is your favorite?

I have a P226R and I'm thinking about a P229R. The only thing is it seems kinda boring to get another Sig. But no other pistol short of a 1911 seems to have as sweet of a SA trigger break than Sigs. My other pistol is a CZ P01.

That's an amazing collection, Scombs. Someone asked me "why Sigs?" All I could think to say was that I sincerely believe in their durability... I bought my first one in the late 80's.

This is my sig p220r equinox .45 acp. It was custom made in the sig factory and has custom wood grips. I have only put about 300 rounds through it and it works great(besides a wierd hang up problem i was getting where the slide would go into slide lock durring cycling even though the engagement was not touched) This picture does not do this fine handgun justice, but is just a range pictuce.

Thats a whole lotta Sig! My P229R 40/357 was my very first gun. Got it about a year ago and I love it. Wanna hear the most retarted reason ever for choosing a certain gun? I used to play an online first person shooter video game in college called Counterstrike and the Sig P228 was my favorite pistol to use in that game. Years later I started doing the research and discovered that Sig is a damn good pistol maker. I saw the P229R and had to have it.

I went back to buy the one in the case for a sigforum member. A bunch of the guys there loved the OD and asked where I got it. They still talk about it from time to time.

Have you found out anything else about the pistol? I emailed Sig and got a response that they would have to do some research but never did back to me. I did hear that they are from a Government contract over run but that's hearsay that's the reason for my email to Sig.

Now I'm glad I didn't buy it and you got it. I'd rather have a Cali guy pick it up than someone out of State.

WRENCHHEAD

Yeah...this one is BEAUTIFUL...It's more bronze looking than OD. This is Veritas Aequitas' pistol from Sigforum. He worked for sig and while they were testing the color for the pistol he got it from their first run. Talk about rare. I hope he doesn't mind me borrowing it.

Thanks a lot. I love this gun too a lot.
I didn't do anything with this P220-I bought CPO from Gun World Burbank like this, I just replace grip screws (I love hex screws). I still don't understand if this "COMBAT" or not, box sad it is P220 (no combat mentioned). When I saw this gun on the shelf-I knew it will be mine.

Not sure if you're asking me or the poster a couple posts above.
As for me, I've never shot it with wet/sweaty hands. It's been to the range, that's about it. No pistol classes, or tactical shooting courses, so basically I don't know how it would perform. The overall comfort is ok, however, I still think I like the hogue slim grips better.

Slide and barrel just came back from CCR and they look great. A previous owner had done a home Duracoat job on the stainless slide and it was pretty nasty. Also dropped in a set of Meprolights, green front yellow rear.

Now with wood!

I'm a little disappointed in the pieces of wood Nill used for my grips. The left and right grips are different shades and it's no where near as consistent as the grips posted above...certainly disappointing for $175. That being said, they fit great and feel even better in the hand.

Dja notice the thread title? I have firearms form other manufactures.

I got my P6 together again. I decided to have the slide re-nitron'd and nickel plated most of my controls and leaving the hammer alone best $88 I ever spent

Nice shooter...Just need to nickel the hammer!

no thanks / i did not like the look with the hammer that color

to my eye/ everything above the midline (bottom of the slide) is black- with the hammer nickel plated, it threw the visual balance off

http://www.lazyeights.net/Avion/Sig_226_STBR_Left_Med.jpg

Like with this example- I'd rather the hammer matched the stainless slide than the other controls.

I shot 115gr PMC factory and the shells would not eject after each shot. Sig is telling me to try 124gr but f*#k them. I spent $16 for the range and these jerks want me to pay $16 again and buy more bullets to test if it works. Should I just send it back to them anyway.

Some folks were having similar issues with the 2022. Check the last few pages of this thread: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=321860&highlight=sig+turners

I had similar issues with the first 150 rounds or so, but not nearly "every shot" like you are explaining. Try the hotter rounds and see if it helps, then go back to the cheaper stuff and just put a couple hundred rounds through. If that doesnt loosen things up (like it did for me) and you are still having constant FTE, then yes, FvCK THEM, send it back.

we don't use them any more. we have the crappy P220 now as our standard service pistol. (this model: http://www.nazarian.no/images/wep/59_Main.JPG)

but there are a lot of P210s for sale in switzerland. starting at 700$ for a used P210-2 and going up to 4000$ for a new P210-6

Jeezuz...only the Swiss could afford P210s as service pistols and call the replacement P220s as "crappy.":p

$700 for a P210...I would gladly pay double that for a working P210 in any caliber...

Great pictures. Welcome to Calguns. :)

No, I am in America. An importer here recently brought in these retired Swiss police pistols. I like them because they probably weren't shot as much as retired American police guns. More importantly, they were built in Germany and maintained by the Swiss. How much more can one possibly ask for in a mechanical tool?

The P225 actually says "Montage Suisse" on the slide. I did some research and supposedly that one was assembled in Switzerland sometime around early 1980.

The P226 and the P228 were made in Germany in 1998 and 1997, respectively.

Do you recognize those crests on the slides? Can you tell me what they mean?

"Montage Suisse" is excellent. That means that all parts were made and assembled in switzerland. I don't think there is any higher standard for engineering and metal production than we do it (no offense ;) just take a look at swiss watches and of course the P210 :))

the crests specify in with canton the gun was used (you know, switzerland is divided in little parts like the USA. it's different but http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Switzerland#Cantons explains it best)

the guns were used at:

P228: canton Lucerne http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canton_of_Lucerne
P226: canton Thurgau http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thurgau
P225: canton Zurich http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canton_of_Z%C3%BCrich

I hope that serves you as you wanted it :)
