I have not had the opportunity to see one the Rock River LAR-8 rifles up close and personal. I was thinking, that since it is setup just like an AR type rifle that I should be able to use one in California with a U-15 stock and use detachable FAL magazines with it.....would this be possible?

At this point, I don't know that it's possible.
Once they start shipping, it would be possible.

:iagree:

(assuming they actually make them - aren't they still vaporware?)

Nope. Saw one at a show for sale. Handled it for 5 minutes. It was very nice. Butt stocks, pistol grips, and forends looked to be compatible.

is this Rock River LAR-8 .308 rifle legal in CA?

i thought any semi-auto with an detachable mag and pistol grip is automatically deemed illegal.....

MonsterMan grip or the use of the Bullet Button-type mag release would also work.

I thought all Rock River Lowers are on the Kasler List?

RRA is weird.

First off, no lowers are listed, but rather specific lower/upper combinations.

Nothing else is. This is a brand new rifle, with a new designation, so no it's not listed.

DPMS Panther is the one that's pretty much wiped off the map.

I don't know how well a bullet button can be adapted. It has an ambi. mag release.

pffft where have you been, dude? This is Calguns. You really think some little ambi mag release is gonna keep us from bullet buttoning this beast?

Yeah, you're right. Just a matter of time.:43:

By the way, no one mentioned retail $$
Starting at around $1,100. Maxed out at $1,350 for the 26" Varmint model, and a claim of 1 MOA. That's less than a National Match M1A!

I have prebans, so MM grip conf. for me.

is there any known solution to an ambi bullet button set up?

huh?

I think what you're trying to ask is, "Are there any known Bullet-Button style solutions to an ambi mag release?"

The answer is, "Not yet." No one has bothered because there are no LAR-8's in any CGers hands. On most other AR-style rifles an ambi mag release isn't the norm. You could consider paddle-style mag releases ambi, such as HK and AKs, and those do have BB solutions.

i should have asked if there is a BB for something like the norgon ambicatch or if the current BB works with it.

This is about the only good thing that came out these stupid laws.... :D

Now speaking of the LAR-8, I wonder when I'll be getting mine...I think I'm number 42,581 on the list ;)...hopefully, they get to ramp up production and put out more than 50 per shipment...

Why would you add a $100 norgon ambicatch, just to defeat its intended use with a bullet button? That's like buying a jetski for your front lawn.
