Shot it this evening for the first time and my rings are too short :( Couldn't get good eye relief and couldn't really see down range. Not sure what to do yet about that. Only shot 17 rounds cause we couldn't get it scoped in with it the way it was.

you don't think it'll be too high?

Lot of scope for a non Varmint upper. Like the rifle! I just think you would like a different scope that can go close range too.

The line of sight through the fixed sights of an AR15/M16 is about 2 1/2" above the centerline of the barrel bore.

Line of sight through a scope with a riser and medium rings will be just about right.

If you're mounting the rings directly to the receiver, you'll need high (or tall) rings.
ok makes sense. i ordered the high riser.

I like the scope and its only going to be used for target shooting up to 200yards.

True, but 4x is OK. I am planning on putting a similar scope on mine. I already bought the Harris bipod and mounting adapter. With the 20" barrel being my first build and having shot it quite a lot now, I decided it needed a scope, and I needed to build another, 16" for sight shooting.

However, witth the troy sight I have, that 20" is real accurate. Scopes can go on and come off just as easy.

Don't get the RRA riser.
You want something more like a YHM, GG&G or PRI riser that also moves the scope forward a couple inches.

I have a hard time paying 4 times as much for something I can get much cheaper,

And anything that says "La Rue"
Is sure to trigger the "I paid too much for it and could of got it cheaper"

JMHO

So you are still in your "quantity over quality" stage of life.
You will undertand why people pay more when you grow up.

Trust me . I am all about "But it nice or buy it twice"
But some things I can live without spending the big bucks on.
So forgive me if I step on Mr.Venders toes?
But not everybody straddles upto the line and wishes he had another whiz bang fast operator quick release that he just paid 400.bucks for so he could look cool at cease fire.
For me?
I can live with a machined piece of aluminum at half the price for a mount.

But I digress.
I know what its like to spend 18k on a tranny because I got tired of breaking the 10.5k one 3 times!
Trust me, I know what it feels like to grow up.

You must really like transvestites to pay so much for them and use so many up.
