I am thinking of getting a Magpul CTR stock to put on a Bushmaster lower and wanted to know which version I would need (commercial or milspec). It looks like it is based on a measurement but I thought I would ask because I'm sure someone knows the answer without having to measure.
Thanks,

Has nothiing to do with the lower, only the buffer tube. Do you already have a stock on your BM or are you adding it? If you need a full kit, get the milspec kit. If you're replacing a stock on a buffer tube, we'll need to know who made it.

I bought the lower complete from Bushmaster and it came with a standard A2 buttstock.

Oh, then you'll need a full kit, as you don't have a carbine buffer. Buy a mil-spec one.

Thanks for the help guys and I'm sorry I didn't make myself clear in my initial post. While we are at it, what are your opinions on the CTR stocks? I have 2 AR15 registered AW's and I just found out from this site that I can get these types of stocks and flash hiders so I'm going to modify one of them.
Thanks again.

While I like the CTR stock (I have one on my "lightweight" AR), I would recommend that you take a look at the Vltor E-MOD. Lots of good features on that stock and you can get it as a complete kit like the CTR.

+1 on the Vltor E-Mod!
I have 2 of them, and love them. The CTR is a good stock, and is very light weight, but it lacks storage compartments, recoil pad is optional ($20 extra) and does not come in a full kit.

Why bother with a whisker eating E-mod when the SOPMOD is available?

:rofl2::rofl2:
I just put one on mine and so far like it although have yet to shoot with it. I got mine here http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/Magpul_CTR_Collapsible_Stock_Combo.htmlhad them for for 149.95 shipped complete, including rubber pad.

Not everyone (whisker owning or not) has problems with the E-Mod. Maybe you should clean yourself up and shave ... :D Seriously though, if it bothers anyone, you just just put some 100mph tape (or gaff or duct) over the seam if your fat Elvis pork chops are getting snagged...
Also, the E-MOD has better features than the SOPMOD (and I own several SOPMODs). Better storage, better LOP, metal strike plate, storage is accessible WITHOUT having to remove the stock off the receiver extension ("buffer tube") and it's priced even better (a complete E-MOD kit cost less than the SOPMOD stock by itself).

Thank you mind-readers!!
Seriously, I've been going over this same question on my Noveske lower build - CTR? Vltor E-Mod??, or older Vltor Clubfoot???
One thing bugging me is that "Flat Dark Earth" isn't very dark, it's just tan.

Storage compartments aren't that big of a deal and AR15 recoil isn't so bad that a recoil pad is necessary.
Unless you're shooting nude
I personally like the storage compartments, I keep a extra set of batteries in there and extra sets of ear plugs. As for the recoil, I never said recoil was a problem, I just like the recoil pad on the E-Mod. It keeps the stock planted on my shoulder for quick follow up shots.
