I just purchased a DMPS LR-308 upper to go with my Fulton Lower.
I'd like to replace the black Aluminum Free-Float handguards with a similar type handguard in FDE.
I've looked around, but can't find any in FDE (or OD for that matter).
I don't want to put rails on this rifle either.

So, does anybody know where I can find aluminum (or carbon) free float handguards in FDE?
Am I better off with getting a DuraCoat kit?
Also, how difficult is it to remove/replace free-float handguards?

If I can't find anything to replace, any other suggestions?

I'd have member "drawn" just duracoat it for you. If you already have the airbrush equipment, you could do it yourself. If not, I don't really recommend their "complete" kit as the airbrush it comes with is pretty lame and I couldn't even get it to work at all.

I had drawn paint my YHM smooth rifle forearm on one of my uppers and couldn't be happier with it.

If you want to spend the money, PRI makes a nice handguard in FDE.

Whooeee!! $300+ for plain old tube handguards!!!
Any other options out there?

I did send an e-mail to Drawn, but I'm assuming I'll need special tools, headspacing gauge, etc. to remove and reinstall the free-floated handguards or am I overcomplicating this?

Drawn probably has the tools to remove/install the handguard if you just send the upper to him.

You only need the special barrel nut wrench.
No headspace concerns when removing and installing handguards.

If he does not, he would probably just bring/send it to me. ;)

Thanks for the information guys, much appreciated!
Waiting on Drawn to get back to me and now I need to order a barrel nut wrench.
Hell, I'll probably order a couple other things too. More $ to Shark... :)

I need to order a barrel nut wrench.

Make sure you get the DPMS 308 wrench because it's different than regular armorer's wrenches.
