Well guys...she is finally here. This projected started in December of 2006 when I ordered the Borden Alpine SA. That took about 7 months and off it went to Terry. After a long wait she is finally home. You guys already know what kind of guy Terry is. Great customer service and just a pleasure to do business with. Thank you Terry.

Specs:
Jim Borden Left handed Alpine SA 308bolt face.
McMillan A5 in GAP camo, spacer system and decelerator pad. Flush Cups on the bottom and right side.
Badger Detachable Bottom Metal
Jewel Trigger set to 2.5lbs
Keiger #10 MTU 8.5twist Barrel finished at 26"
Chambered in 260Rem
Glen Seekins was kind enough to make the 20 MOA base for the Borden Alpine action. The base fits perfectly.
KMW Bolt Mod
Badger Rings
Nightforce 3-15X 50mm NPR1 from Mike Cecil of CSGUNWORKS.

All work done by Terry Cross of KMW Long Range Solutions

These are the first test groups that Terry fired. He was kind enough to shoot his hand loads through her and save me barrel life and time load developing.

47.5gn of H4831SC in the winter and 47.0gn in the summer
Remington Brass
F210M
139 Lapua Scenar
2.81 OAL

Not bad for the first few rounds out of her.

Now I need to talk Terry into building me a 308 identical to my 260rem. Unfortunately he is not taking any more work at this time.

Thats awesome! I've shot a few of Terry's rifles and they've all been flawless. Looks like its a laser.

That's a nice looking piece. But we must know.. where are YOUR groupings? :)

I just got the rig today.

My groups will never be that tight...i suck. Hence I buy .25MOA rifles so I can add the Vu factor of .75MOA to make it a solid MOA rifle. LOL LOL

I am going to take a day off and shoot it Friday.

We are looking at April 1st to Mid April.

Registration will be like SHC. Send in an email on this date after this time and we will let you know if you made the 43 slots.

Why don't you take monday off (when I'm off), so I can verify the accuracy of the rifle. You might need an experienced shooter to wring it out for you :D

Trust me I am almost wishing I got it right handed. I am so use to running that bolt right handed that this LH action feels funky.

Vu-any specific reason(s) for going with the Borden action over, say, a surgeon, stiller, etc.? Is Terry partial to the Bordens?

LOL...I hear some of those 7wsm never make it out to the matches though. :p

Thanks Spd.

Rksimple,

I went with a Borden because there were almost 0 custom LH actions fit for tactical/practical use. After talking to him he said the Alpine is not as tight as his BR actions but a lot tighter than a stock 700 trued up. Tons of BR type actions in LH but way too tight.

I needed a 700 foot print so I could use the badger bottom metal.

Stiller did not have their tac 30 out yet. (picked up a RH one yesterday though for a my FTR build)

Terry did comment on the workmanship/machining of the Borden....all positive. He normally builds of Surgeons but they do not have a LH in production at this time.

Very nice. That Borden action looks solid.

Yes the Borden is pretty sweet. I am really tempted to place an order now for another SA in LH so I can build a 308 just like my 260rem.

I bet ive shot more today then Randall has for awhile.

That's certainly true.
With being sick twice, sprained foot, the rain cancelling matches and buiding a demo derby car, I have not shot anything in almost 2 months.
The good thing is that I should be shooting at least 5 matches in the next 3 weeks! :)

Oh, and rounds fired is not a measure of ability.
When you hit your target on the first shot, you don't have to shoot again. ;)

Running is for young punks in BDU's.
Being a good runner does not make one a good shooter.
I'll take a golf cart to the firing line anyday. ;)

Hey Randall you going to the APS match? Carpool?

I kinda doubt it.
Mystery Mountain is 3 weeks away so I'll be shooting exclusively 3gun/action type matches until then.
I'll be back for April.

Remember my rule about loaning chronographs to people that don't own one...

Kinda funny how people that don't own them are usually the ones that shoot them. ;)
