In my opinion your best bet would be to look in the county and stay away from the cities. With that said DIscount Guns sells OLL's in San Diego. Don't know how the other cities are but I would think the county would be your best bet.

Hmmm....DGM keeps a stock of OLL, are you sure you're referring to the correct gun shop?

Well you can easily buy OLLs at Discount gun mart http://www.discountgunmart.com/ or you can have them transferred to http://www.royalloan.net/ if you're buying off the internet.

I dont know how zoning works, but I know there are 3 places to buy guns on El Cajon Blvd.. Royal Loan, California Police Equipment, and Big 5 :)

Easiest way to find out is to walk into your city's planning department and ask them what the requirements are. I doubt anyone on Calguns will have the necessary expertise in San Diego zoning restrictions.

Here in Costa Mesa, dealers must be in retail zones. When I spoke to our planning department about opening an indoor shooting range, things got a little complicated because the range had to be in a light industrial area, but they were willing to work out an easement to allow the retail shop in the industrial area (though the parking requirement would still apply).

In a separate conversation when I asked about a manufacturer's FFL where we might have to actually test-fire weapons, the planning people shrugged and said it had to be in light industrial, and they couldn't care less about the test-firing; that was something for OSHA to worry about.

All you need to do is ask.
