I received this email from the NRA Members Council. If you have the time check it out!

This reminder is going out a little early because our next monthly meeting will feature expert Second Amendment attorney, CHUCK MICHEL!!

Chuck's visit is both generous and timely. He will be discussing the Supreme Court case, Heller vs. Washington D.C. This case challenges the gun ban in Washington D.C. that has left its law abiding citizens defenseless against criminals. Judgement on this case will greatly affect the way the Second Amendment will be interepreted in future case. Chuck Michel will carefully explain the implications what we can expect after the ruling.

This is very exciting everyone! This is the BIG GAME!

Please pass this email along and invite as many people as you can to our next meeting. If you are a member but have not attended our meeting lately, this will be a great opportunity for you to return and get the inside scoop.

Hope you all can join us.

See you all on Thursday!!

This Month's Topics:
-Upcoming Supreme Court ruling
-New gun related bills introduced into the California Legislature
-Presidential election focus for 2008
-And much more. . .

When: 7pm, Thursday, March 6th, 2008
Where: American Legion Hall Post #184
412 S. Camino Real, Redondo Beach
Phone: 310-316-6718

Our monthly meetings are held on the FIRST Thursday of each month.
The meetings are intended to be informative and fun. You will learn about the latest firearms related legislations and how we support the Second Amendment. There will occasionally be guest speakers who will discuss a varying range of firearm related topics like politics, gun laws, self defense, local elections, local shooting events, etc.

All NRA members and supporters of the Second Amendment are invited to attend.
Please take a moment to forward this message and invite other NRA members or Pro-Second Amendment supporters that live in the South Bay.

Visit or Members' Council website for maps and info:

Tom,
I am headed out to hunt tonight in NV and will return on Monday.
Could you please send this out to our groups? You may certainly edit it as desired.
If anyone is interested in making the trek to Redondo Beach it might be a good time to speak with Chuck, one on one, if so inclined.
Have a good weekend,
Carl

If at all possible, is there any way that someone could record the speech and post it?
Thanks,
Builder

Glad there is some interest in this!

Generally, I spoke about NRA and CRPA legal initiatives in California, and about the Heller case and what we can expect from a SCOTUS decision.
The Powerpoint presentation took about an hour.

I repeated the presentation on Friday, abridged down to 25 minutes, at the West Valley Friends of NRA fundraising dinner in Rancho Cucamonga.

I will be repeating the presentation at Friends of NRA dinners around So Cal. over the next few months.

Thanks Chuck,

Sure would be nice if we could create more more of a community between Calguns and the NRA member councils. I think most folks do not have a full understanding of each organizations potential and how that potential could be multiplied by utilizing each others assests better.

Thanks Chuck,

If you missed Chuck's presentation, you missed-out on lots of information that is important for California firearm owners/NRA members. Hopefully, we will be able to have Chuck's entire presentation available at future Members' Council events.

That's what I've been doing for the past 2+ years. I call it "Working together towards a common goal."

Why do you think I make it so easy for people to contact me?!? Because, as the Program Administrator for the NRA Members' Councils, I am the person who is responsible for their operation. And I believe that Calguns.net is a great communication resource for firearms owners to use throughout this embattled state.

That's one of the reasons why I am continually reminding Calgunners to get actively involved with their local NRA Members' Council.

Yes I did miss the presentation, out of town on business.

I certainly recognized both the NRA and Calguns contributions "towards a common goal". I believe if more members of this board got involved this united front will grow.

Thank you again
