Just came back from Angeles. Man was it crowded. Great to see plenty of OLLs but it was so crowded that rifle targets were too close to each other and other shooters were hitting my target:mad: this never happens during week days.

The way I see it, the more shooters out there the more brass that they leave behind for my reloads.:43:

^^^Good point Chief. This is exactly why I need to get into reloading.

I just shoot on Mondays (or very early Sunday morning [like 7am]).

I get to the range an hour before live fire begins on Saturday and 2.5 hours before live fire begins on Sunday (breakfast in clubhouse and talk with other Sunday shooters) to secure a bench.
Weekends are the only time I really shoot unless I need to get loads/zeros ready for a match.
The only thing I hate about weekends are the unsafe people that tend to show up who are oblivious to range and firearm safety.
Very rarely some moron will take a shot at my targets at 200, and I have to go off on them for that.

Yes - have always hated the weekends at LAX and Angeles. And as other ranges have close in the area, both of these have gotten more crowded. But, it is what it is and it's still a place to shoot. Just wish there was more variable shooting allowed. It would be nice to have a place with more obstacle/moving target scenarios for the average public without having to join yet another expensive club. I need to get my own land and set up my own private range; that is high on my list as one of the priorities of things to do in the next 3 years. ;)

So if I get to IFG @ 9:30 tomorrow am I going to get a bench?

Nope. I'd get there at least an hour before. I usually get there at 0700 on Sundays.
Tomorrow is going to get crowded because the 22 benchrest match will be going on in the morning with at least the first 10 benches being reserved for the match. So tomorrow I would definitely get there more than hour early to guarantee a bench.
Today was fairly slow for a Saturday at IFG. Benches didn't fill up until 0930 and even then, people were constantly in and out freeing up benches. Hardly any pistol shooters. But then again, most pistol shooters come in the afternoon. I guess they need their beauty sleep.

I hate crowds.. that is why I go to the Davis St. Range(San Leandro) when they first open on weekdays (usually Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday) Thursdays I have HP practice/mantanance and 5-6 of us have the 200yd line to our selves at Chabot.. and I shoot HP matches on Saturdays so I don;t deal with crowds that day

I like to go shooting on my Fridays off as I usually have the range to myself or maybe one or two other guys. When I need to get club member hours, I like to RO on the weekends because there is a greater need for ROs and it is fun to visit with different shooters and check out what other people are shooting.

Where's the option for "I love weekends at the range, hardly anybody's there"?

I went out to the San Diego PD Pistol Range this morning. Got there right around 10am. The tactical side had some kind of something going on with about 20 people participating. The fixed 25 yd line (underground tunnel with pits so you don't have to wait for a cease fire to fix/change your target and covered shooting positions) had 3 other people shooting Bullseye.
I stayed for about 3 hours and got some really good practice in. By the time I left there was myself and one other shooter.
$10 to shoot all day, but it beats the heck out of driving to South Bay
I haven't been out there for a few years, but I'll be back.

Well, shooters paradise in Oxnard is always crowded on the weekends, so I try to go during the week, but I have a hard time getting away from work to go.

+1. I was surprised last time I was at the range when there were 3(!!!!) other people there on Saturday afternoon.

Mucho brass when the gang bangers come out. Can't hit s**t but leave behind lots of .45 brass for me to reload. :)

The packed ranges mean many good things...sport growth, money for the coffers to keep up them beauuuutiful ranges, more gun owners and more gun owners operating legally (hopefully), and more friendly people to admire our firearms and vice versa.
On the other hand, there's the fools out there putting lives at risk with their recklessness, their lack of adherence to rules, they leave messes and disrespect others sharing the range.
I take off a Friday or Monday once a month so I can have my own range to myself where I can take my time, call my own cease fires (outdoor range), and focus on "my" shooting safely.
lol, 50/50 question.

The range in Oroville is always packed as of late. Don't know what the deal is, but even Sunday morning it has been full up. Kind of glad to see all the shooters, just makes me more nervous as the Oroville range is a "use at your own risk" type of range. Was there Thurs. and the guy next to me parked between benches so I couldn't see the bench on the other side of his truck. Made clearing the range a sketchy situation to say the least.

I actually like going when it's crowded. I usually end up meeting some nice people, seeing some nice guns, and having some great discussions. . .
That being said, once I was the ONLY PERSON at Chabot - it was on a weekend and it was pouring rain. That was fun too. . .

We need to set up an Angeles monthly shoot, on some random weekday (Tues or Wed) for those of us with flexible schedules :)

I don't like it crowded when I go. I do like seeing people being safely involved with firearms but just don't like it when I go :) That said, I don't have enough time to go as often and I want so I will shoot regardless.
I like going to ASC in San Diego when there are few shooters. It gives me solid practice time without the additional distractions. :)

I won't go on weekends, someone might see me shoot bad. :D
But I'm lucky the indoor range I go to is open at 9am and I'm there by 9:30 I go 1 sometimes 2 times a week. And I'm out of there in an hour.
I hate crowds.
