I know the civilian is still some ways from being released but based on its' current configuration...would it be legal to purchase?

It has a collapsible stock, a pistol grip, and a flash-hider. Not gonna fly here unless a magazine lock is designed for it. It appears that a Bullet Button type lock would not be too difficult to design for it, however.

In its factory configuration, it is not legal in California.

It can be made California compliant by using a BB, P50, or similar magazine locking system to lock 10rd magazines in place, assuming that the overall length is over 30" (I'm not aware of the factory length with the stock collapsed)

If there is a locking mechanism for the magazine and meets the minimum 30" requirement then it could be legal?

Yes, it is the same rule for any centerfire rifle with detachable magazines and evil features such as pistol grips or folding stocks.

pretty ugly rifle IMHO. lot of money to spen for a rifle that does the same thing as an AR. How easy are these to work on?

The people I know who have handled them disagree.

The people I know who have shot them REALLY disagree.

Last time I checked you couldn't change an AR over to .308. And most AR's are still DI, whereas the SCAR is piston operated. I'm not taking sides in the DI vs. piston war, but the two rifles operate differently.

Also, LANWORLD is advertising possible November delivery. They can't promise anything, but they said they would work on a Cal legal version. Which I'm hoping is just a bullet button. We already have 10 rd. ar mags, so I'm really hoping they can deliver.

I was happy to actually shoot one hands-on (7.62 model). I agree it is ugly, but the damn thing shoots 100x's better than any AR and is literally built like a tank.

I have handled one, but did not shoot it.
If I were to get one I would featureless build it since IIRC it uses AR magazines.

The one I handled put a smile on my face and sent me to the internet looking for high end Airsofts ($300+) just to have one in the house. If these become available to civilians I may just rent an apartment in Vegas, put a gun safe in there and visit my SCAR every weekend. It's the AR-15 with all the flaws removed (except some will freak about reciprocating charging handle -- ie., it moves back and forth when the gun is fired.)

SOCOM requested a gun that could fore a full mag with only the muzzle out of the water. One shot with an AR and the recoil spring tube fills up with water. SCAR shoot all day. Piston, rails, two calibers, and new magazines that will soon be hitting the market created by a California company t hat KICK issue and FN AR mags to hell. Yes, the SCAR may be the answer -- if you don' live HERE>

I haven't explicitly read up on all the details of the regulation but I was under the impression that the type of firearm is irrelevant and not an issue with this requirement of obtaining a transfer code.

Those guys really do love us! :D Works for me. I'd rather pay more and support the local dealers then save money and support idiots like that.

Those idiots in Sacramento just keep making it harder and harder to live here. It won't be long before all the honest American citizens move out of the state. Good luck trying to enforce laws on people without ID, and don't have any regard for American laws, or culture.

The gun looks like a politician's nightmare.
Then again is doesn't always come in black, apparently that's what makes the real difference.

mmm it has an ambicatch so i think that means if they make something for it, that same something should work for ambicatches in ars too or at least the principle.
