A pistol grip and a different stock are not worth an extra $300 in my opinion.

My saiga works just fine with a monte carlo stock.

I just placed an order through the internet with them for some VZ58 kits. It was easy. We'll see. I don't know why there would be a problem. They are reputable and are on many forums (AK any way). I believe they are going to make the compliant parts kits for the group buy on VZ58 orders on the AK forum.

I suppose, if you don't want to hassle with the mods to the Saiga, and dealing with the compliant parts issues, it could be a good deal.

That likely requires a longer action than even the Saiga 308 could provide, you'd need a whole new gun (receiver, etc.) from scratch.

In the past, Centerfire has not sold many CA legal rifles in CA. I just got their flyer in the mail, all of these Saigas are listed as CANNOT BE SOLD TO CA RESIDENTS.

Ive seen an 8x57mm converted AKM.... so Im pretty sure it could be done. Even making a new receiver would be cake... start with a lazer cut flat and stretch it 10mm in the magwell area by laying out a copy on some 1mm steel stock and then notching it with a dremel to allow folding and welding... Or use a water jet to make slits or a slitting saw in a mill or something...or maybe a lazer lol (yes thats LASER for OhSmily)

Im positive it could be done... use the 10rd Draganov magazines.

P.S. Isnt there some ROMAK style AK that shoots x54 already...the "fake" drag or something??

There's always the Saiga 100 in 30.06 that could be used as a base:

Centerfire Systems are one of the worst companies that do not want to sell firearms to CA. Here is their policy for CA:

State Law Policy
California - No Handguns. No Hi-Cap Mags without a Hi-Cap Mag Permit.
No Defense/Clip Fed Shotguns. No Semi-Auto Rifles. No M-16 Bolts.
Los Angeles, Sacramento, & San Francisco, CA - No Ammo without a FFL.

I think you would have more chance of being able to squat down and lay a large white egg, that to get Centerfire Systems to ship you a Saiga to CA.

I don't know if you want to risk it......It IS an EVIL BLACK gun. It MAY just go on a killing spree all by itself!

Oh, wait...that's right. You need to ask the Nanny-State's PERMISSION first!

Hello :troll:

Thank you for your anti-California sentiments. Now why don't you shuffle back to your double-wide and fry something?

+1. Especially when you can add one for $100 and a little work.

You mean a Zastava M76? http://world.guns.ru/sniper/sn65-e.htm

And the P.S. would be a Romy PSL

http://www.salboarms.com/gpage18.html

IIRC, the PSL is actually a modified design based on the RPK.

Dude, I went off on this link and spent the last 1.5 hours looking at snipper rifles and seeing if you can even buy a CZ700. What a tangent. Thanks for that link.

is it just me, or does that saiga 100 in 3006 look much cooler than the other saigas? that stock looks a heck of a lot more comfortable than the crappy on on the x39s, too.

The 30.06 version is considered a true hunting rifle, so it has to look/feel good.

There is Saiga in 30.06. So I have to assume it can be made into 7.62x54R without changing the action.
