View Full Version : Spike's .22LR Q's - First time builder!!

I'm very impressed by some of the AR-22's on this board. And now that I have the funds I want to build one of my own. But first I have a few questions.

Does anyone have comparison pictures of the Rifle, Carbine, Specter rails installed with a fake can suppressor? I can't figure out which configuration I want for my upper. I'm mostly concerned with how much of the fake can suppressor would each of the lowers expose?

Do LPK's have to match the manufacturer of the lower? I can't seem to find a Spike's LPK. For those of you that already have a AR-22 which LPK would you recommend?

Thanks guys!! :D

Hitman, I like your .22. Is that a Black Dog mag you're using?

Really there are only 4 lengths to choose from:

Carbine - 7.2 inches
Mid - 9.2 inches
Spector - 9.675 inches
Full - 12.5 inches

The important thing to pay attention to is how large the holes in the handguard are. If they are big you will be able to see through the HG and see the back of the fake suppressor.

This should help you gage some of the measurements.

My AR-22 uses the spector length rail and fake SD can. Plink's rifle has the carbine rail.

And this is my favorite picture, so I'm going to put it here just because.

Good luck with your build. You are going to love it.

My Spike's upper is accurate enuf to get 10 shots within a 2 inch bulls eye at 25 yards using iron sights resting my elbows. Probably do much better properly seated with sandbags and optics. It's plenty accurate for me. Using walmart federal bulk pack ammo. 1000 rnds without a jam. Coupla dud rounds, but the primer strike was deep so it was the round, not the gun.
