It made me sad to see a great rifle like the M14 in 10th place:confused:
I guess they are calculating service length and so forth.

What do you guy's think are the best 10 rifles or rifle.

I'm not surprised to see the M14 last. While in and of itself, it's a cool rifle, compared to the rest of the world it was old technology. The Germans had already created the first mass produced assault rifle and the Russians had made the soon to be most prolific assault rifle in the world.

It's like how the US Army stuck to single shot, hinged breech block, black powder cartridge rifles while the rest of the worlds armies were already arming themselves with turn-bolt, smokeless powder rifles in the late 19th Century.

If the M14 had came out during WWII, it would have been a different story. But Army brass made sure JCG didn't design his rifle like he wanted.

I think that the M1A/M14 are great rifles very accurate and reliable.

Is that the one where the AK came out #1?

I have no problem with that. . .

yea its not like box magazines were newit was like "hmm, how few rounds can we let soldiers have at the ready, well we got to look like we're doing better than the springfield how about 3 more ,yea thats a good amount"

best "rifle" is such a subjective criteria since everything is a mess of comprimises but i think they did good i couldnt argue with any of their selections although i would have rather had the sks be in the place of the aug i mean come on the aug the only airtime it got was that crazy blonddude from die hard

also the sks to the ak to me looks analogus to the garand to the m-14

Indeed, the BAR with its 20rd magazine was used in combat in the last days of WWI.

I'll always read your threads, your Glock thread was good for several laughs! Unfortunately this one isn't quite as funny. It needs more koolaid, and there's not enough misinformation.
