I am looking to pick up a new folder. Currently I carry a Kershaw Scallion (http://www.kershaw-knives.net/Kershaw-Scallion-1620FLST.htm). The knife is nice, but looking for something a little bigger. Also, for some reason it never seemed that sharp

I also just had a CRKT KISS (http://www.crkt.com/KISS) for a few weeks, but I lost it argghh... I liked the features, but a little small

Here is what I think I am looking for.

Folder
Tanto Blade
blade closer to 2.5"- 3"
Non Serrated - I think
pocket/belt clip
assisted open

Something on the slim side for edc
I like the open look - like the KISS
under the $75 range

I don't know anything about metals so when I read the different materials I get lost.

It will be use for opening boxes, cutting rope, speaker wire. I don't really have anything specific, just random things I encounter daily that a knife is helpful for.

I like the Blur too but it is rather large.

I EDC a Kershaw Skyline. Manual opener but it's slim and light. They go for about $40.

It's more than you want to spend, but an Emerson Mini CQC7 would fit the bill perfectly and is higher quality than anything mentioned so far except maybe the Benchmade:

I had that gerber for my edc for a year. Loved that blade , wasnt bulky or got in the way. Im seem to give away my blades to family. I guess its just one of my things. My brother didnt carry so I gave it to him and hes still Edc-ing that same knife.

In no certain order, those are quick easy picks that are thin for EDC. They are good do-all knives but by no means a pry bar for anything. I own all of them and they are all good knives. I seem to be keeping my tenacious with me, and for the 30 bucks it cost, its a good little knife that holds an edge for about a week or so for me before I have to hone it again.

Ive always liked this one for its "mean" factor.

Folding knife with hollow-ground Japanese AUS 8A stainless blade
Edge is positioned at angle to the cut to produce deep sheering effect
Injection-molded Grivory handle is heavily contoured for comfort
Dual thumb plate for 1-handed opening or snag-on-pocket opening
Tri-Ad locking mechanism; blade measures 4-1/2 inches; weighs 7.5 ounces

Kershaw Cryo

I'm flying to Texas in a few days to help my folks move, we'll be driving back.

I'm going to be running light... only a small carry-on, so I can't bring a "real" knife. I muttered something about being knifeless. My wife says, "Just buy a knife when you get there..." (Yeah, she's pretty awesome ;) )

my Ganzo came in today. very nice knife. solid and seems well built. not perfect, a few things I would like to be different, but for $19 shipped, seems well worth it.

can't wait for my sog mini aegis to come in. I think it might be exactly what I wanted

I got back from Texas yesterday...

I picked up a Kershaw Cryo while there, and so far I really like it. Very fast deployment, locks up well. Feels sturdy and well built, but a little small in my hand. (fine for light tasks though)

I am already looking at ordering a Cryo II ( I like "sets" ;) )

fredridge

Ok... I finally got my SOG

It is just about perfect for what I wanted. Super light, decent size, maybe just a tiny bit small in the hand. Feels sturdy with fast deployment.

Only.issue is that it has some play in the blade I will have to figure out how to tighten.

The ganzo I got is much heavier and sturdier, I like it a little more, but it is a little to big for.me as an edc, will save it for when I am doing outdoor stuff.

After one day I am super happy with the sog

Sog Trident. Light, sturdy, and a pocket clip in the best place means that I've always got it on me no matter the conditions. And they can be found for around $60 on Amazon, which, to me, is the best knife for the money--and I don't feel heartbroken if I lose it.

I love my spyderco endura 4 with Emerson opener. It makes opening beer bottles a snap, plus it's fun to show your friends that you can have a knife open out of your pocket quicker than their assist opening knives.

Usuly guys start off with these larger edc blades and move to something smaller...find a knife store or a store with a lot of knives and see what you like. For me a mid sized spring assist with a deep Cary pocket clip that carrys tip up works for me I Usualy switch off from a sog flash2or kershaw blur with a kershaw leek in the back pocket as a back up

There's plenty of online knife dealers. Just google it. It looks like they start at around $36.00 on Amazon. They seem to have a couple of different blade steel choices.

Really like the Hinderer design on the cryo so far my favorite.

I usually don't change brands once I find something I really like. For me to "cross over", the other product better impress the hell out of me...

A while back I looked at Kershaw's Leek, I was not impressed. I figured Kershaw was not for me.

A few weeks ago... I read a few reviews on the Cryo, I had to go check one out.

I now own a Cryo, CryoII, and can't wait for the Ember (basically a small Cryo) to be released :toetap05:
