Here (http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/forms/pdf/awguide.pdf) you go before you say something that is not COMPLETELY correct read the law. You are correct in saying that the CETME are AW if you are reffering to the "Cetme Sporter". How ever other Cetme rifles are legal as long as the Comply with SB-23.

While the Century Arms CETME does say CETME the model is RI1189-X not CETME Sporter which is banned. And there a members in this forum that own CAI CETME's in compliance with SB23. I do like the PTR-91's but cant afford the extra $500 at this time.

I for one want one of these too.

The "new" Century Cetme's say on the receiver, "Made in USA" and "Cetme". The banned listed rifle is "Made in Spain - Cetme Sporter." Sportsman's Safari out of Georgia is willing to ship these to California. I hope you guys follow suit.

I first tried to get one about a year ago and a reputable FFL we all know here (SoCal guys) wouldn't do the Xfer because they are banned but, hey, if you guys know a FFL that will transfer them more power to you.

*I was told that it can't say "CETME" "CETME SPORTER" or "SPORTER" anywhere on the receiver.

Better off getting the PTR anyway. The century guns quite often have a lot of assembly problems which normally lead to function problems down the road. I have a CETME that resides at my brothers house out of state, it worked great when I first got it. Now, not so much. The assembly monkey's at Century ground down the back of the bolt head to get the correct bolt gap. Needless to say, this is not the correct way to restore bolt gap on a delayed roller locking rifle. The number of posts I've seen from CETME owners that have had the same thing with their rifles is enough to keep me from ever buying another CETME, or any Century product for that matter. The PTR is definitely the way to go if you want an HK type rifle IMHO.
