I noticed the spelling indicates the test originated in England - I wonder if that skews things a bit.

Hmm, the results surprised me. I expected to be a lot closer to the lower right corner. I particularly expected to be jammed against the "libertarian" side.

I wonder how much the results were skewed by the particular questions that were chosen?

Well, I'm still going to keep calling myself an anarcho-libertarian. :p

these tests never turn out quite right. if you need a test to tell you how you stand politically then well.. your the ones who listened to the media say that ron paul had no chance so you didn't vote for him.

I'm registered non-partisan, the Republicans didn't give me the opportunity to vote in their primary, and I couldn't stomach the idea of asking for a Democrat ballot. That made it really easy... I voted a straight "no" ballot. If only we could vote "no" in the presidential race...

My result seemed pretty much dead on. And i knew i could never vote for Ron Paul the day he said "Huh? Johnny Sutton? Campos and Rameon? no i can't say as i'm familiar with that case" in an interview on national television. When just 2 days prior in a debate he claimed the only reason Jihadists hate us is because we're on their soil. Seems a 'little' out of touch to me. IMO

Yup, Ron Paul never had a chance. Nice thought, though.

The test put me in the same quadrant (just barely) as Gandhi, The Dalai Lama and Nelson Mandela. Problem is, I'm definitely not a pacifist.

I'm a dirty lib on some topics, a smelly republican on others and a stingy libertarian on others. I just vote on what I know about the topics, if I don't know then I abstain from voting on it. I never really wanted to be part of a group so I never decided to pick one or the other. You know I think the fathers would want you to think on your own, but you know differenty strokes for different folks.

Just to make it really clear: the horizontal line would be best judged by economics and the vertical line by politics. Of course, this is merely an approximation of much more complex personalities that the test takers have.
That being said, I was still surprised with my results.

This isn't an awful quiz as far as these go. It's fairly easy to game as the extremes can cancel each other out and put you in the middle. I'm close to the middle but my actual answers taken individually would be at opposite ends.

The issue is that the scores for each question and the how they are added and subtracted are controlled by who ever created the test. Your score is what the people who developed the test consider left-right and authoritarian-libertarian.

They can assign different point values to each questions and you would all be leftist, pinko, commies.

I agree with aileron. Most of the questions were fundamentally flawed. I probably would have come across as more of a libertarian if I wasn't forced to compromise with some of my answers. (There's no such thing as "civilized" and "barbaric" peoples. We're all barbaric. The more twisted societies find ways of hiding it and getting self-righteous.)
