View Full Version : So what of HR 1022?

At my local gun club meeting last night, our NRA announcment was to write our members of the senate judiciary cmte about 1022 to voice our disgust and hate towards Carolyn McCarthy (ok, not really, but it sounds better that way).

Anyway, he told us of some of the hidden aspects of it that weren't made plain language in the bill. Turns out it bans ALL long guns and shotguns ever used by the US Military (including spanish war era rifles). So that means our precious M1As, Garands, 03a3s, etc...banned.

Anyone up on this bill to confirm if this is the case? Any chance something like this will fly? Looks like it's been designated "dead" the various other times it's been introduced..any reason so suspect it'll not die?

This is my favorite part: "a firearm shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event."

Also this seems a lot broader than the previous AW ban. They even named the mini-14 by name.
