I used to use my pellet gun in the back yard all the time, but I don't know if it was legal. I'd call your local department of fish and game, they might be able to help or at least direct you to the right place.

thanks I will try to find out from them, because I was thinking of getting one for myself for fun, but i live in a very quiet neighborhood where people call cops just simply beacuse they heard a strange noise, my friends are telling me that it is against the law to fire bbs anywhere within the city, which is crazy if it is true. :)

thanks Technical Ted :44: this is what I needed to know, I think. I live in residential area, so I would assume I am safe in my garage.

I think this is it, it does not say anything about backyard or garage aka private property.

Sec. 2-5-37. Firearms, weapons, fireworks, replica firearms.
No person shall have any fireworks, firearms, replica firearms, air gun, paint ball gun, BB gun, slingshot or bow or hunting arrow or any weapon in his possession or in his vehicle other than in a closed trunk, storage compartment or other area separated from the passenger section of the vehicle, in any park, beach or recreational area, nor shall any person discharge any firearm, fireworks or weapon or display any replica firearm upon or into any park, beach or recreational area; provided, however, that theDirector may designate areas in which such activity is permitted.

You should check with your local city law enforcement.

In the city of Lost Angeles, even shooting a bb gun is technically considered "Neglegent discharge of a FIREARM".....although I doubt a cop would take it that far....you'd probably just have it confiscated....unless you are doing something really dumb like shooting birds or something....

lol.... Boy do I have a story about my bro and his pellet gun. Shooting birds is fun too and a challenge. HAHA I have a Gamo Hunter 220 and a Buffalo Bill BB gun from when I was 12 I got as an Xmas present. I haven't shot them in awhile I rarely do. Still they're fun to take out in the backyard.

Don't get a magnum powered, break barrel spring piston BB gun then.
They are loud.

:threadjacked:

I have the instructions on modifing a Daisy pistol to fire FA...can't seem to find a link to the legality of the mod in Ca. Anyone know off hand if a full-auto BB gun is legal in Ca.?
I was really hoping to get one of these and have "fun" at the gun range.

Airguns are not firearms so far as semi/full auto is concerned. There are no restrictions as to function, only where you are allowed to shoot them.

If you want full-auto, try this on for size:

http://www.pyramydair.com/p/drozd-bb-gun.shtml

Selectable 300, 450 or 600rpm in up to 6 round bursts....

This is olympic level, but even so, a good precharged is $1k+. You might be even more surprised at what today's airguns can do. Out to about 100yds, they'll outshoot most rimfires...quite an achievement consideirng they are all pretty much shooting low-BC projectiles at subsonic velocities. In the hands of an exceptional shooter, they are truly amazing:

http://www.network54.com/Forum/79537/message/1202171016/200+yards+target+group

Lets just say that sub-MOA is almost becoming the norm (under the right conditions of course). There is a "Field Target" rifle made here in Gardena, CA that won't ship unless it proves itself. Every one is test-fired....25 shots at 51yds basically <0.75" (25 shots inside a dime). Getting that many rounds to group that well is truly a feat!

On the other end, if you are power hungry, they've got 50cal and even a 20mm airgun. American Bison have been taken with airguns.

As for the $$$....lots of people say "why"?....you can (laws permitting) shoot in your backyard any time you want, pull a patch every 5000 rounds and you're golden.

I know airgunners that shoot tens of thousands of rounds per year....how many people do that with their centerfire or rimfire???...

I am thinking of getting this :D
http://www.airgundepot.com/eaa-drozd.html, oops I just read the above posts SVRider.:jump: That gun is sweet. when I was younger I used to load small round lead fishing weights into Russian air rifles, they fitted perfectly I wonder if this one will take it. this one is nice too Skif 3000, 390-520 fps http://www.airgundepot.com/eaa-skif-a-3000.html Due to new government regulations, all EAA Skif Air Pistols come with a small orange ring at the tip of the barrel. - and this sucks.

What about real silencers for these available or not? It would be nice to outfit the drozd with a real silencer not to disturb the neighbors, because it sounds like on video pretty close to machine gun and I doubt I can use that in my backyard without someone calling the cops
