So I recently found one of my old Swiss Army knives in my truck. It must have sat in the truck for at least 2 years. Anyways, the whole thing was locked up. I couldn't open any of the blades/tools. I soaked it with penetrating oil, but it didn't help. Soaked it in Coca Cola - nope. The handle/scales have chew marks from prying so hard with a screwdriver to get things open.

Took it to Ross Cutlery in Downtown LA. The guy said it happens all the time and to soak it in WD40 for 2 days. I soaked it 2 days in diesel first - nope. Just finished wiping it off after soaking 2 days with WD40. The main blade and can opener still bend my thumbnail back (and my nails are short).

The guy at Ross told me it won't be warranted because there's "nothing wrong" with it. So, how do I break this thing to send it back without hassles??

Couldn't hurt to contact them and just ask in the first place. http://www.victorinox.com/us/content/contact_us

Yes, this is from the first link and also why I wasted my time with Ross Cutlery:

In California and other states so requiring, you may return the Swiss Army Knife through your place of purchase.

Anyways, I tried to take it apart and ended up fixing it.
