Would this be classified as a baton?

Yes if you leave the handle on and or actually use it.

I use to work with these Africans and they showed me this trick.

Greetings, my name is Curtis Koehler - www.RazorRazor.com

We design, patent, and manufacture edged weapons and edged weapon systems for elite law enforcement and US Special Operations. And yes there are SOF personnel that are using the BeltSword Weapon System in the Middle East – go to our web site and review FAQ

My formal training after graduating from University of Wisconsin - Polygraph examinations and the use of interrogation techniques - But for the last 30 years – I do not recall anything – especially who I worked for!

Perhaps some of you may have more experience in weapons, and weapon system than my special clients. Please post the elite military or elite law enforcement units that you have served in. I like to know the experience behind those that critique our systems. (Please be honest – The US Government takes a dim view on those that impersonate military personnel)

My last two major contracts were from the head of the FBI’s Defensive Tactics - Quantico Virginia, and a US organization that trains counter terrorism units in foreign countries throughout the world.

The average citizen does not understand what we do, and most people think that the hand-gun they carry is all they need. Most or our operators will use an edged weapon in an ambush /CQB situation over their primary weapon; to create distance - until they may be able to deploy their primary weapon. Our SOF personnel use the BeltSword as a back-up weapon. Our special RazorDaggers are used by drug enforcement undercover agents. Etc.

COVERT TOOLS for FORCE PROTECTION - Part 1 - 2013

“The Art of Success” - Appear to be a cryptogram while operating in a directed way to penetrate enemy vulnerability and weaknesses.”
John Boyd “Patterns of Conflict”

This article seeks to display the contemporary innovations of Curtis W. Koehler; whose tools are in the tradition of covert weapons. He began his quest to improve survivability with edged weapons and concealment systems in 1998. This journey has led him to study metallurgy and to experiment endlessly, in a long period of trial and error, which led to a range of rapidly deployable and highly concealed knives and swords from behind the worn belt.

He has received considerable attention and inside acclaim from within elite US Law Enforcement units and the military SOF community. These unique tools are filling an important niche and are carried by career practitioners here in the US and in hostile environments overseas.

The daggers and sheathing systems created and advanced by Koehler originally came at the calling of an elite narcotics unit conducting regular undercover operations. The current product was developed with specific input and guidance from that Narcotics Bureau. His concealed belt sword system has spent time in Afghanistan where it has been worn operationally by SOF members up to 18 hours a day. He has received kudos for his efforts from now retired US FBI Special Agent Robert Taubert who was instrumental in the development of HRT and acted as agency liaison for many US Special Operations units.

The knife systems advanced by Curtis meets the zero compromise criteria imposed by covert operations and meets professional standards for time critical deployment under emergency conditions. This system will reliably enable sub-second deployment of a knife under stress.

Aaron Cunningham is the acting President of the International Tactical Training Association and a lifetime practitioner and noted instructor of edged weapon tactics and training. ITTA conducts international training – counter terrorism measures. Mr. Curtis W. Koehler may be contacted at creative@wi.rr.com. (414) 303-3000 Web Site: www.RazorRazor.com

Mr Koehler, welcome to Calguns.

Entirely aside from opinions of utility and effectiveness, California residents are afflicted with a severe prohibition on the carry of concealed fixed-blade knives.

Since that appears to be the selling points of most of the products your company currently offers, I fear we are not able to be much of a market.

Dear Mr. Librarian thank you for welcoming me to your forum.

Regarding California as a good or bad market; the majority of my customers are elite law enforcement, military, and martial arts professionals. So my response to some postings on your forum is not to sell anything. However my point is double edged; one is the efficacy of a weapon system that people do not understand. The second is it my God given right to protect my family; regardless of some pin-headed politician.

We have a President that lies to us, violates the constitution, rewrites laws without authority, and wants to give the thugs in our country welfare; that is equal to the honest and deserving poor. Let’s not forget about the illegal aliens that are bringing a new wave of gangs, violence, and drugs into this country. (I recognize that the great majority of aliens are decent people)

In 1776 our founding fathers put their entire fortunes on the line; they fought a war that was vastly unpopular with the average citizen at that time. They risked prison, loss of their families, and even death for their beliefs. I am not advocating a revolution! But we need to change this system, and we need to stand up for what we believe. I think our founding father would laugh at us for obeying a law that may be a death sentence to our families.

So if I understand you correctly; when I am taking my 91 year old mother to the store, and some young thug plays the knock-out game on her – I should obey the law - I should be defenseless – I should watch my mother die.

With all due respect; I am one American that has not turned into a coward. The liberal rich politicians that have body guards, and live in gated communities will never deny me the right to protect my family.

One right I do not have…I do not have the right to judge the thug that attempts to harm my family. I believe that judgment takes place when he is meeting our creator. However I will be very happy to arrange that meeting…expeditiously!

And I quote; “From my cold dead hands”!

Very respectfully, Curtis W. Koehler

The company's own legal disclaimer states:

Summary

1. CA, MA, and NY may prohibit even the ownership of a functioning BeltSword Weapon System. (Example: Cane Swords are illegal in CA, MA, NY)

2. We ship a legally compliant version of the BeltSword Weapon System to CA, MA, NY. RazorDaggers and Double RazorDaggers are also compliant; as all edges are not sharp. (Example: A letter opener with two edges would be illegal in CA, MA, and NY if both edges were sharp; as it would then be classified as a double edged weapon)

3. For CA, MA, and NY only, the containment holes in the belt for the BeltSword Weapon System are “scored”; but not punched all the way through the leather belt.

4. This prevents the system from being assembled in the states of CA, MA, and NY; thus non-functioning.

5. Once you leave CA, MA, or NY you can purchase a leather punch, and punch the holes in the belt where they are clearly marked.

6. This will allow you to assemble the containment system into a functioning weapon system.

7. However if you punch the holes in the belt while you live in the CA, MA, or NY; you may be in violation of the law – DO NOT ASSEMBLE THE SYSTEM WHILE YOU LIVE IN CA, MA, NY!

8. If you wear the BeltSword Weapon System concealed in CA, MA, OR NY; you are definitely in violation of the law.

9. It is up to you to contact your local District Attorney to determine the legality of any and all weapons.

10. Should you have any questions regarding the legality of a RazorRazor weapon in your state – STOP! DO NOT PLACE THE ORDER! Call your local district attorney’s office.

As may be; our pin-headed politicians, however, are happily dreaming up more crimes as felonies.

As to the rest of the post, I get it, but that's off topic for this "Blades, Bows and Tools" forum (note 'Moderator' in my title), so we won't pursue that here.

No popcorn needed.

First I would like to apology for moving the discussion off topic. All of us at RazorRazor are passionate about innovation and new weapon designs, and equally passionate about our elected officials that place there power and wealth above responsible hard working Americans.

I was “thrown off course” with the intimation that my posting was mostly to sell our products in California. This is not the case; I was trying to answer several posts that showed lack of knowledge about some of our edged weapon systems.

I admit, when we first began this project; it was for profit. At this point we have invested too much in our systems; it is unlikely that we will see any profit – any time soon. This is especially true since our clients are very specialized, and we keep spending more resources on R&D. Now that that is behind us; let’s move back to the original topic – the BeltSword and edged weapon innovations.

Phase 1: RazorRazor has completed Phase 1. A “Body Contour Weapon Systems” that attempts to be part of your body; unlike a typical concealed carry weapon that is worn, or strapped to your side. Our systems were designed to conceal large and small edged weapons – that in the past were difficult, if not impossible to hide in undercover or covert operations. Part of our marching orders from drug enforcement - a dagger that would be very difficult to find in a search – easy access – sub second deployment – we have met that criteria.

Phase 2: Develop edged weapons that may be hidden in plain sight – on top of clothing - Not under clothing or under a belt. This system will totally hide an edged weapon on almost any portion of the body. In Phase 1 our weapons are limited to certain areas of the body. In Phase 2 the weapon is in plain sight; but cannot be seen. There are situations in which an attacker could limit an operator from the unrestricted use of hands/arms. However several edged weapon strategically placed, will allow instant access.

Phase 3: In Phase 1 & 2 you need to physically grasp the edged weapon to deploy it. Although that only takes a split second; there may be times in which you are not able to access or deploy any weapon.

Phase 3 is known as “Passive Aggressive Weaponized Systems” (PAWS). A wolverine does not need to open a holster, or pull a weapon from a sheath. In very basic terms; what you wear is the weapon, and you are the weapon platform. A series of weapons do not need to be deployed…they simply exist…they will deploy and counter a threat when you enter the fight or flight mode.

In this scenario; all movements are based upon your natural defense response. Because in life or death situations; most of us will forget our training (Unless we are highly trained). If cold temperatures or cold water are added to this equation; the most basic skills become a near impossibility.

Phase 3 is a long way off, and many of the systems in Phase 2 & 3 will never be available to the public.

Thank you for your interest, Curtis W. Koehler

I believe that 99.999% of the members of your forum are top notch. But the comment above detracts from that great image.

Please enlighten me how a snake of any type is “on topic”? What does Mr. Moderator think?

I checked out the videos. I thought it was pretty awesome how quickly he whipped out the sword from his belt. Doesn't look very cumbersome...I'd wear one!
