Just as the title says, Walmarts are putting their safes on clearance. I know these aren't very good, but they suit my purposes and I can't afford a sturdy safe with fire protection yet.

10 gun models
http://www.sentrysafe.com/products/productDetail.aspx?s=177

14 gun models
http://www.sentrysafe.com/products/productDetail.aspx?s=174

These are clearance, so it'll depend on what the store marked them up for.

The walmarts I checked in Sacramento:
West Sac: Doesn't carry

Truxel: 14's for 250, 10's for 170

El Camino: 14's for 250, 10's for 190

Elk Grove: Out, had 10 gun cabinets for 68

Woodland: Out, had 14 gun cabinets for 99.

I picked up a 14 from the El Camino one in carmichael for 250. Just thought I'd share. I found out about the deal on slickdeals.net. Apparently the 10's go down to 89-100 and the 14's 200 if you're lucky.

Well.... oook. I'm not sure of the Orange Wal-Mart

Me: "Hi, I want to check inventory and price on one of your safes."

Lady: "Ok, what safe?"

Me: "Sentry"

Lady: "I thought you were looking for a safe?"

Me: "Yes, Sentry safe. I'm looking for a 10 rifle gun safe"

Lady: "Uhh, GUN safe? Hold on..."

*Music plays*

You guys have the worse luck. Whenever I called in, transfered to sporting goods and the guys all answered my questions pretty quickly.

I just made sure to point out I was looking for the gun SAFES, not the cabinets.

Do any CA Wal-Marts even stock gun safes to begin with?

Yes, since 4 out of 5 in Sacramento area did, if only 2 still have any left. :D Looks like no in the near future thanks to clearence though.

Also, apparently these non-fire sentries all have dehumidifier access ports built in. I'll check when I get home tonight.

orange does not carry them. neither does cerritos, long beach, or duarte. i did get the last one from lake elsinore. it seems only the more rural walmarts in socal carry them. try riverside maybe they will answer the phone instead of picking it up and dropping it right back down without saying anything like they kept doing to me. it is a great deal even with a long drive.

I checked several and even wasted an hour and gas. Guy at Panorama City Walmart says they have plenty of Sentry safes and different models. I got excited drove down there and saw a bunch of sentry safes all right but they were about 12-24 inches tall. I was pissed.

I seen this thread last night and ran to my local Walmart and got lucky. They had two of the 10 gun safes for $184 and two of the 14 gun safes for around $220. If anyone is in the San Bernardino area this Walmart is in Colton on Mt. Vernon.

I called the SuperCenter in Long Beach and spoke to the sporting goods manager, Jesse. He said they had sold all of thiers as clearance, with the last one being sold last week. When I said, "Yeah, and I bet it was like $100", he said that it was.

Anyway, he called around to local Walmarts and they were all out.

Good price, but no fire protection. My wife got me a similar model Sentry with fire rating for a little over $600 a few years back at Costco. The Costco stores also vary for selection and sales, but it's worth checking out. Last thing I want to do in a fire is think about retrieving my guns from a safe!

Checked the one here in Anaheim on North Euclid Street. No luck there either. You make a good point about the fire protection but I can't lug a heavy safe up the steps in the apartment I am in so this would be a good compromise vs hiding it under the bed ;)

They have 1, won't hold it and are open 24/7. Guy quoted ~$290. Have at it.

Foothill Ranch - Walmart hasn't carried safes since they got out of the gun business
San Clemente - Oh yeah we had one .. (laughing) we sold it last week for like $60 :(
Brea - Oh those are seasonal items, we won't get them until Christmas

Good luck to any who find one. I'm done dealing with the Walmart clan over the phone. Most I spoke with acted as though they had no clue what a gun safe is.

I ordered one off the Walmart website. Arrived 4 days later despite them saying it would take 2 weeks. Nice safe for the money.

The Walmart in Rancho Cordova (closest to my Sacramento home) had 2 models instock, don't remember which, but I did not want to try and move it myself.

One of the best deal on gun safes is at Sams Club (http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate.do?dest=5&item=189761) 60 x 33 x 22 for $568, the only down side is you have to pick it up yourself.

Its made by Granite Safe (http://www.granitesafe.com/winchester.html#). The same safe with a glossy finish goes for over $1,000 at other stores

I wouldn't own a sentry but you guys do what you want. The bolts are fake and the other end of them is a 1/4 cheap threaded rod. You can take a crow bar and bend one open in less then 5 mins.

I just picked up a 10 gun Sentry safe at a Walmart in Oregon. It is of much lessor quality than other Sentry safes. Lighter weight (just over 100 pounds) and plastic dial.

Anyone know if the super wal-mart in Stockton has Safes?

“We aint never carried no safes” I was told by an obese lady “associate” with excessive body hair. That was at the Stockton (Un)super Wal-Mart.

After going there I am reminded of why I stayed in school and got an education and why I avoid places like that. I have never seen so many toothless crack whores, illegal aliens, fat people with dirty and misbehaving children, gangbanger looking punks, and just all around scum. There was even an altercation in the parking lot over a parking space between some black guy with dreadlocks and a Mexican who didn’t speak English. Sort of entertaining.
